On October 23, MoMo Financial Technology Group and Vietnam Digital Traffic Joint Stock Company (ePass) - a member of Viettel Military Industry - Telecommunications Group, cooperated to launch a payment link between the two platforms ePass and MoMo.
Accordingly, the non-stop toll collection (ETC) service provided by ePass will be integrated directly on the MoMo application with a mini-app interface, allowing users to link their transport accounts, top up and pay fees right on a single platform.
Transactions at toll stations are processed automatically, quickly and safely according to the provisions of Decree 119 of the Government regulating electronic payments for road traffic.
In addition, MoMo payment method is also integrated on ePass application, giving users more flexible payment options.
Along with that, the two sides will promote data cooperation and develop smart transportation services (Smart Mobility) through analyzing travel behavior to build personalized utility packages such as: incentives for vehicles that frequently pass through stations, maintenance schedule reminders, route suggestions, thereby improving the experience and value for users.
In the next phase, the scope of cooperation will be expanded to the business (B2B) and government (B2G) sectors. The two units plan to develop electronic payment solutions for transport enterprises and vehicle fleets, and integrate payments into public systems such as the National Public Service Portal, vehicle inspection systems, and road management platforms.
Effective integration of electronic payments with transport infrastructure
In the world , the model of integrating electronic payments with transport infrastructure has proven to be clearly effective. In China, more than 95% of travel transactions are made through e-wallets, helping the toll collection system and public transport operate smoothly and transparently.
Electronic toll collection in India has reduced the average waiting time at the station from 12 minutes to less than 1 minute. The cooperation between MoMo and ePass is expected to help Vietnam catch up with regional trends and accelerate the process of digitizing public infrastructure.
