On the evening of September 27, the Northern Hydrometeorological Station forecast that due to the influence of storm Bualoi (storm No. 10), on September 28 and 29, in Hanoi, there is a possibility of strong winds of level 4-5, gusting to level 6.
Risk of flooding due to heavy rain
From the evening of September 28 to the evening of September 30, Hanoi will have moderate rain, heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Total rainfall in the northern part of the city is generally 100 - 200mm, in some places over 300mm. The city center, western and southern areas of the city have generally 150 - 250mm of rain, in some places over 350mm.
"Thunderstorms can be accompanied by tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind that can break trees, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
Heavy rain in a short period of time overloads the drainage system, causing flooding in residential areas, urban areas and low-lying areas, traffic jams due to flooded roads and reduced visibility when driving, causing slippery roads and traffic accidents," warned the Northern Hydrometeorological Station.
Responding to Tuoi Tre Online on the afternoon of September 27 about whether Hanoi would have heavy rain causing flooding like storm No. 5 (Kajiki) a month ago, Mr. Hoang Phuc Lam - Deputy Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting - said that this time Hanoi had a little less rain but there was still a risk of flooding.
"Hanoi will have rain after the storm, the peak will be on September 29 and may last until September 30" - Mr. Lam added.
