Bau Ca Cai mangrove forest in Thuan Phuoc village, Van Tuong commune is located on a natural lagoon with an area of about 110 hectares. The appearance of this place has changed thanks to the bold development of community tourism .
Mr. Pham Duy Nghia (48 years old), a member of Bau Ca Cai community tourism cooperative, said that his family, like many households here, mainly do agriculture . In recent years, when tourism has received attention from the local government for investment and construction support, it has created many jobs for local workers.
Taking advantage of the large garden area, Mr. Nghia renovated and planted fruit trees, flowers and created a check-in and stop point for tourists when they come to visit and experience Bau Ca Cai. This season, the water level in the lake is high, breeding many types of aquatic products.
Mr. Nghia shared that tourists are very excited when sitting on a boat, weaving through rows of trees to admire the beauty of the white tamarind tree. “Tourists from inside and outside the province flock here, especially during Tet and summer. People can directly participate in homestay services, cuisine , tour guides, folk art performances, etc., thereby creating more jobs, increasing income and stabilizing their lives,” Mr. Nghia shared.
Ms. Pham Thi Tien (23 years old), Mr. Nghia's daughter, has just graduated from university with a major in English. She has joined the cooperative to build an image and introduce the beauty of Bau Ca Cai's homeland on digital platforms to promote products and attract tourists. According to Ms. Tien, visitors mainly look for a place to relax, live slowly and be close to nature.
“I want visitors to feel that here is a simple, friendly village full of laughter, a green color of nature that everyone joins in preserving,” Ms. Tien expressed.
Mr. Nguyen Khuong (59 years old), a resident of Thuan Phuoc village, shared that Bau Ca Cai plays a very important role in regulating the air and improving the environment in Dung Quat Economic Zone. Thanks to community tourism, it has brought economic efficiency, helping people have a stable income.
"For a long time, thanks to the fish and shrimp in Bau Ca Cai, my family has been able to raise and educate their children. The seafood here is very delicious, so it has high economic value," said Mr. Khuong.
Ms. Phung Thi Kim Loan, Director of Bau Ca Cai Community Tourism Cooperative, said that the Cooperative currently has over 60 members, of which 50% are women. Thanks to tourism development, members have increased income through rowing, cooking, tour guiding, homestay, cycling, selling local specialties, etc. Since the beginning of the year, the Cooperative has welcomed about 30 groups of guests and about 6,000 visitors.
Bau Ca Cai has gradually become a destination for many tourists. This place converges the beautiful scenery of nature and the rich and diverse cultural life of the locality.
To shape and build a brand for Bau Ca Cai tourism, the local government has developed Bau Ca Cai tourist site under the New Rural Tourism Development Program. Accordingly, it will support 20 households who are members of Bau Ca Cai Community Tourism Cooperative with funds to renovate their houses to serve the homestay model; install a system of signs and regulations at the tourist site; build a parking lot; improve the landscape by planting more trees, ornamental flowers and build stops for tourists to rest, take photos, etc.
In particular, the Community House project has just been completed and put into operation in 2025 with a total investment of 1.9 billion VND, which is a place to organize cultural, social and exchange activities of the people. At the same time, it plays the role of a tourism information center, introducing Bau Ca Cai tourism products, helping to connect tourists with unique local experiences.
