According to information from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, recently Mr. Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, had a meeting and worked with Mr. Masafumi Shukuri, President of the Japan Transport and Tourism Research Institute - JTTRI (an agency under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan) on issues of promoting and connecting tourism between the two countries, focusing on golf tourism.
Vietnam has many international standard golf courses designed by Japan.
According to Mr. Phong, Vietnam and Japan are two countries with strong relations, traditional friendship, long-term cooperation and many good results.
Japan is an attractive destination. Japan has always accompanied Vietnam in its development process. It is a long-term strategic partner and a friendly friend ready to connect localities of the two countries, expand promotional activities, and promote bilateral tourism.
Talking about the development potential of various fields, especially golf tourism to attract international Japanese visitors, Mr. Phong emphasized: "Vietnam has many advantages with attractive natural landscapes, favorable climate for playing golf all year round, including many international standard golf courses designed by Japan."
Meanwhile, in the opposite direction, Mr. Masafumi Shukuri said that Japan aims to welcome 2 million tourists from Vietnam by 2030.
Japan wishes to accompany Vietnam in activities to promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the Japanese people through tourism promotion programs, cultural exchanges, and organizing seminars and talks.
Previously, in 2024, the number of tourists exchanged between the two countries also achieved remarkable results. Japan sent 700,000 tourists to Vietnam. In the opposite direction, there were more than 600,000 Vietnamese tourists to Japan.
In the first quarter of 2025, the number of Japanese international visitors to Vietnam increased by 26.3% compared to the same period in 2024.
Golf tourism direction to many other potential markets

Currently, Vietnam has 70 golf courses and this number will increase in the coming time.
According to the Vietnam Golf Tourism Association, with many international awards, Vietnam golf tourism has a reputation on the world map, a great opportunity to become "Asia's golf paradise".
In addition, in the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy to 2030, approved by the Prime Minister, golf tourism is also identified as one of the key products to elevate and guide Vietnam's tourism to sustainable development.
Each international golf visitor to Vietnam spends an average of 40 million VND in 5 days.
