Phu Quoc travel is beautiful and cheap

In the context of extremely high airfares (from Hanoi to Phu Quoc about 6 million VND/round trip; from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc about 3.5 million VND/round trip), many businesses and resorts in Phu Quoc have launched promotional programs to stimulate demand... to attract tourists to the pearl island by road, which is expected to increase during the next 5-day holiday.

According to Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Province Tourism Association Nguyen Vu Khac Huy, many units and businesses have agreed to join forces to offer reasonably priced tours to welcome tourists by waterway from Ha Tien, Rach Gia to Phu Quoc. Accordingly, the prices of high-speed boats, hotels, entertainment services, and food and beverage services have not increased compared to normal days.

Specifically, the Superdong high-speed ferry company, whose fleet transports most of the passengers from Kien Giang to Phu Quoc Island, has committed not to increase ticket prices. A reporter from the Hanoi Moi Newspaper experienced a trip on a Superdong high-speed ferry from Rach Gia City to Phu Quoc and found the trip quite convenient. The ship is spacious, departs on time; the journey takes about 2 hours, feels like traveling by car on the road.

“The speedboat ticket price is about 230,000 to 340,000 VND/trip depending on whether you are an adult or a child. There are currently about 13 trips/day from Rach Gia or Ha Tien to Phu Quoc. During the upcoming holiday, the number of trips will increase to 28 trips/day. Tourists with cars can take the sea ferry from Rach Gia or Ha Tien, the journey takes more than 3 hours/trip,” said Ms. Hong Thi Van Thuy, Head of Superdong Phu Quoc ticket office.

In the Sunset Town area in the South of Phu Quoc Island, many resorts offer preferential packages to attract tourists. Accordingly, room rates at 3-star mini hotels in this famous resort range from 900,000 to 1.8 million VND/night depending on the room. The resort apartments at the Sun Grand City Hillside Residences high-rise tower with full services, the house with an infinity pool overlooking the Kissing Bridge in the middle of the sea also have quite attractive prices, depending on the skillful bargaining of tourists with the apartment owners.

The cable car operator from Sunset Town to Hon Thom Island also launched a promotional package offering free cable car tickets to visitors who book standard hotel rooms in the Mediterranean area at a price of about 1.6 million VND/room/2 people. If visitors have lunch on Hon Thom Island (the end point of the cable car route of more than 7km), an additional fee will be charged or visitors can buy a combo ticket for cable car, food, entertainment on Hon Thom Island; tickets to the water park, go up the Kiss Bridge, watch art performances and fireworks every night at Sunset Town.

Major dining establishments on Phu Quoc Island have now completed expansion and upgrades, ready to welcome guests during the upcoming holidays.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Chuong, Director of Bach Phu An Restaurant, said that the new banquet rooms have been completed, including a large room with LED screen, glass stage, modern sound and lighting system and a Phu Quoc-style food menu to serve tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Hung, Director of Ngu Uyen Restaurant, informed that he is ready to welcome guests to dining rooms with a landscape imbued with the Southern river scene.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Nghia, Director of Vietnam Smile Tourism Company Limited (VNS), the new point of Phu Quoc tourism this year is the closer and more effective connection of tourism, travel, transportation, service businesses... to attract tourists to Phu Quoc. Many service providers have offered more preferential policies than every year and are ready to join in building tours and routes with attractive prices and good quality for tourists.

“Our company is currently maintaining the improvement of service quality for customers who can still travel by plane, so that they feel it is worth spending money to go to Phu Quoc for vacation. Along with that, we are collaborating with many parties to build suitable service packages for tourists to Phu Quoc by sea. However, in the long term, we hope that the parties will soon resolve the problem of airfares being too high as they are now. As an island city, if airfares are too high and there are few flights, Phu Quoc will find it difficult to compete on price with convenient domestic and foreign tourist destinations,” Mr. Nguyen Van Nghia suggested.

With an area of 593km2, more than 40 islands, and a population of nearly 150,000 people, Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province has an important position in terms of economy, national defense and security, and is an important regional and international traffic hub.
