Originated from love

One afternoon in July, many collectors, artists and art lovers gathered at AnVy Art Gallery to attend the art exhibition "Sunshine and Windy Land 1".

Coming here, everyone feels like they are entering the space of a Quang Tri that is both familiar and strange. It is still the land of Lao wind and white sand in the minds of many people, but this place has a new, authentic and very impressive image and color.

The works of art are diverse in form and content, expressed in many materials, capturing the eyes and feet of each person.

Talking about the art exhibition program “Sunshine and Windy Land 1”, artist Truong Dinh Dung, lecturer at Quang Tri Pedagogical College, said that he and other members were very touched to receive everyone's attention.

Having participated in many large and small exhibitions and art shows, this event still has a special meaning to him. Because the program was formed from the bond of brotherhood and teacher-student relationship.

Accompanying Dung in this program is his younger brother Truong Dinh Tho, currently a painter and sculptor in Dong Ha ward. The remaining 3 painters and sculptors are all students but are considered by Dung as his own blood relatives, including painters Le Canh Oanh, Pham Van Cuong and painter and sculptor Nguyen Van Hung.

Following his emotions, Mr. Dung said that a year ago, through painting, he accidentally met friends at AnVy Art Gallery. After seeing the works of some painters and sculptors from Quang Tri, AnVy Art proposed to open an exhibition in the capital.

At first, upon hearing the invitation, Mr. Dung was hesitant because he knew that organizing an art exhibition would take a lot of time and effort. However, knowing that this was a good opportunity to introduce the land and people of Quang Tri to friends from all over the world, he immediately discussed it with his younger brother and students, then accepted.

From there, 5 painters and sculptors entered the process of serious work and creation to bring impressive works to the exhibition. There are the echoes of the Truong Son mountain range, the sweetness of folk songs and even the sweat of rocks... After discussion, they agreed to bring 25 works to Hanoi for exhibition.

Mr. Ho Thanh Thoan, former Vice President of the Quang Tri Province Literature and Arts Association, said that Truong Dinh Dung, Truong Dinh Tho, Le Canh Oanh, Pham Van Cuong and Nguyen Van Hung are all members of the Quang Tri Province Literature and Arts Association. With their hard work, creativity and seriousness, over the past time, they have created many impressive works of art, imbued with the breath of life. Not simply an art exhibition program, "Sunshine and Windy Land 1" is the heart and feelings of the children for their homeland. This is a meaningful program, contributing to bringing the image of Quang Tri far and wide.

Repaying the motherland's love

In addition to their works of art, the five painters and sculptors who came to the program “Sunshine and Windy Land 1” also brought their own stories. Among them, Le Canh Oanh, Pham Van Cuong and Nguyen Van Hung are all teachers in the mountainous region, with quite similar starting points.

Born and raised in a poor countryside, they explored and opened up a bright path for themselves with their passion for painting and sculpture. Having experienced many challenges, when they became teachers, they were deeply aware of nurturing and helping poor students, especially Van Kieu and Pa Ko children, to pursue fine arts.

Every day, despite being busy with work, they still arrange time to live out their passion for painting and sculpture. Painting pictures, carving statues… have long been their joy. In their artistic work, they are no strangers to sleepless nights.

“One day, after finishing the last strokes of the painting, I fell asleep. When I woke up and saw the painting as I wanted, my heart filled with music. Even greater happiness was that my painting received praise from many people, had the opportunity to be exhibited, and won awards,” Oanh said.

Unlike the three teachers in the highlands, Truong Dinh Dung and his younger brother Truong Dinh Tho were fortunate to inherit artistic genes from their parents. Their father was a cultural manager, and their mother was an actress. When they saw that their two children had an artistic inclination, their grandparents were very supportive.

In order to not disappoint their parents, both brothers studied hard, worked hard in the arts, and both went to China to study for a master's degree in this field. Although there were many job opportunities in big cities, both decided to return to their homeland.

Not only in the teacher-student and brother-sister relationship, the strong bond connecting 5 people with the same passion for fine arts is the love for Quang Tri. That love has motivated these painters and sculptors to constantly strive to improve themselves and contribute more.

In particular, they always have the urge to create valuable works of art about the land and people of Quang Tri. Many works born from their hands, minds, and hearts have appeared in major exhibitions and programs, and have won many central and local awards.

For 5 painters and sculptors of Quang Tri, the art exhibition "Sunshine and Windy Land 1" can be considered a small gift to repay the love of their motherland, the place that nurtured and gave them what they have today.

Therefore, when receiving much attention and support, everyone is happy. They promise each other to continue working and creating tirelessly to create new paintings and sculptures, more imbued with the colors of life. From here, the next “Sunshine and Windy Lands” will be born, imprinted in everyone’s hearts, as a sign of a countryside.
