Việt NamViệt Nam13/12/2023

Through trade promotion activities, OCOP products (locally sourced goods with distinctive cultural values and local advantages) from Binh Thuan have gradually reached and become more accessible to consumers everywhere…

In the field of Industry and Trade, this year, trade promotion activities have been coordinated and implemented by functional units of the province, yielding remarkable results. Through these activities, OCOP products from Binh Thuan have had the opportunity to promote their brands, establish production and business linkages, and expand their markets both within and outside the province. For example, this year, the Binh Thuan Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion organized three Vietnamese goods fairs in rural, mountainous, and island areas of the province: in Phu Quy (April 2023), Bac Binh and Ham Tan (July 2023). Regarding domestic trade promotion programs, the Binh Thuan Industry and Trade sector has also coordinated or actively participated in several trade fairs, exhibitions, festivals, and OCOP fairs organized in various provinces and regional areas.

The 2023 Binh Thuan Province Trade and Industry Exhibition - OCOP Products, held from October 19-25 in Phan Thiet City, was a highlight, with over 100 organizations and businesses from across the country registering to participate with 248 booths (including 56 booths showcasing key products, OCOP products, tourism products, and typical rural industrial products of Binh Thuan province). According to the organizers, this year's exhibition attracted approximately 60,000 visitors and generated an estimated average revenue of billions of VND for participating businesses. This created favorable conditions for businesses to network, exchange information, promote and introduce their goods, services, and brands, especially OCOP products. It also provided opportunities for joint ventures, partnerships, investment cooperation, and market expansion, contributing to the further development of production and business activities.

The 23rd Vietnam-China International Trade Fair 2023, held last month (November 10-15) in Lao Cai, featured 529 standard booths and 88 exhibition areas. Vietnam participated with 349 booths from 165 businesses across 50 provinces and cities nationwide, China with 156 booths, and 8 other countries with 24 booths. Binh Thuan province participated with 6 booths, including 4 standard booths and 2 exhibition booths in the central exhibition area. The booths primarily showcased fresh dragon fruit and processed dragon fruit products from Binh Thuan, bird's nest products, OCOP products, and other specialty products of the province. In addition, businesses also provided information, offered product samples, and distributed brochures to partners for research, understanding, and information exchange aimed at promoting product sales. As a result, several businesses in the province, such as the Binh Thuan Sustainable Production and Consumption Ecosystem Cooperative and Yen Nhat Vuong Production - Trading - Service - Import & Export Company Limited, have signed contracts with domestic and foreign businesses.

According to the leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade, the OCOP program has contributed to the transformation of small-scale agricultural production into production based on value chain linkages and traceability... Through the OCOP program, many localities have planned specialty raw material areas, thereby creating conditions for the development of rural industries and traditional craft villages... In reality, over the past time, OCOP products from the province participating in exhibitions and introductions at trade fairs have focused on improving quality and packaging designs to meet consumer tastes and needs. Therefore, in the future, trade promotion needs to be given attention and financial support to implement activities that bring practical results, thereby continuing to help Binh Thuan's OCOP products reach further...
