Delegates attended the groundbreaking ceremony to demolish temporary and dilapidated houses in Tan Ky commune, with funding supported by the Ministry of Public Security . |
In the sweltering heat of late July, officers and soldiers of the Mobile Police Department of Thai Nguyen Provincial Police were still working hard with local people and the family of Mr. Hoang Van Toan, in Bo Lech hamlet, Hiep Luc commune, to carry rocks, mix mortar, and level the ground to start building a new house for his family.
Mr. Toan’s family is poor, living in a temporary house built more than 20 years ago; there is not enough land to cultivate for a living, life is difficult. In that situation, the local government coordinated with the police force to review and support the construction of houses. His family was supported with 60 million VND from socialized sources and 20 million VND from the local counterpart to soon have a solid house and stabilize their lives.
In Thanh Thinh commune, Ha Thi Nhiem’s family is also one of the extremely disadvantaged households that received support to build a new house. Her husband passed away a long time ago, and she has been raising three children alone in a seriously degraded house, but has no means to repair it. Now that she has received support to build a new house, she cannot hide her joy.
The police force directly supported the family in designing, laying the foundation, and preparing the conditions for building the house. With a solid place to live, Mrs. Nhiem no longer has to worry about the house leaking every time a storm comes.

The stories of Mr. Toan and Mrs. Nhiem’s families are just two of many heartwarming pieces in the journey to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Thai Nguyen province. Having a solid house not only helps people settle down but also opens up opportunities for economic development and improves the quality of life.
From July 1, 2025, the new Thai Nguyen province was established on the basis of merging Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan provinces. Before the merger, the whole province had 7,982 households living in temporary or dilapidated houses; by the time of the merger, 6,625 households had been eliminated. After reviewing, there were over 2,000 households in the 37 northern communes and wards (belonging to the old Bac Kan province).
Faced with such difficulties, the Ministry of Public Security mobilized organizations, individuals, and businesses to donate 60 billion VND to support Thai Nguyen province in implementing the Project "Building 1,000 houses for the people", contributing to eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. With a support level of 60 million VND per house, combined with local counterpart resources, local forces with the core being the Police directly participated in transporting materials, supporting working days, implementing the motto of the State and the people working together.
In recent days, more than 30 officers and soldiers of the Internal Security Department and more than 200 officers and soldiers of the Mobile Police Department, Thai Nguyen Provincial Police have been mobilized to support the construction of houses for people in difficult areas. In coordination with the Party Committee, authorities, Commune Police and people, the Police force has supported nearly 40 households in the communes of Thanh Thinh, Thanh Mai, Quang Bach, Nam Cuong, Hiep Luc, Yen Binh, Bang Thanh... This is a great resource and encouragement, contributing to helping the locality complete the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses before August 31, 2025.

Directly participating in supporting households, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Huy, Mobile Police Department, said: Following the direction of the Party Committee and the Director of the Provincial Police, we directly went to the localities to implement housing construction projects according to the policy of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. During the implementation process, the unit received active cooperation from the government and people, with the determination to complete the set schedule.
As of July 30, 2025, Thai Nguyen Provincial Police have reviewed and built 511 houses, including 392 new houses, 112 prefabricated houses and 7 repaired houses. Of these, 218 houses have started construction; units and localities are continuing to review eligible households to speed up progress and complete the set goals.
The new houses built with support from the Ministry of Public Security, the emotional tears and thank you letters sent to the police force are clear evidence of the profound human value that the Project brings.
The journey of eliminating temporary houses and building shelters not only has material significance but also contributes to spreading the spirit of humanity, building a fair and developed society.
