In recent days, many provinces and cities in the North have experienced severe cold. The principal of a school in Yen Lac district ( Vinh Phuc province) posted on the school's "fan page": "Tomorrow morning and the whole week, the weather will be rainy and very cold, so you should dress warmly enough. Our school is far from home, so you should wake up on time to go to school. If it's too cold and you oversleep and are late, just put on your hat and coat, tidy up and go, I will have the security guard open the gate. If you haven't had time to eat, go down to the kitchen to have breakfast with the teachers, tomorrow the teachers will also eat there."
The post received thousands of likes and more than a thousand comments and shares with praise and support. But during this severe cold spell, there were also status lines and comments from parents about the situation in many schools and localities where teachers and principals are still rigid with the regulation requiring students to wear uniforms when going to class. In one province, a middle school teacher even sent a message to the parent group reminding them that some students did not wear uniforms to school. In many schools, for fear of being criticized by teachers and having their names recorded in the red star book, many students do not dare to wear warm clothes on cold days. Even in the cold, rainy weather of 100C, the school still requires students to wear uniforms (which are only thin 2-layer windbreakers) with the reason of creating discipline or "not creating distance". When returning home from school, every student's lips are purple...
When there is widespread severe cold, basically localities in the North implement the regulation that when the temperature drops below 10 degrees Celsius, preschool and primary school students are allowed to stay home from school, and in places where the temperature drops below 7 degrees Celsius, secondary and high school students are allowed to stay home from school. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training also issued a document instructing that on very cold days, schools can adjust school hours so that students do not have to come to school too early. In case students arrive late due to weather reasons, the school needs to flexibly resolve the issue so that students can go to school; at the same time, coordinate with parents to remind students to wear enough warm clothes, and do not require students to wear uniforms on cold days...
To keep students warm and healthy, many schools have flexibly allowed students to wear thick (regular) warm coats over their uniforms or not require them to wear uniforms, or even let students stay home from school when it is very cold. However, in many places, this has only stopped at the direction of the department oreducation department, but down to schools and teachers, the implementation is not consistent. Therefore, the Department of Education and Training in provinces and cities in the North and North Central regions, and even the Ministry of Education and Training, must have documents regulating and providing clearer instructions on this issue.
