Doctor, Meritorious Physician Nguyen Kim Thu Passes Away

On July 21, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and An Giang province announced the sad news: Doctor, excellent physician Nguyen Kim Thu, wife of former Politburo member and former Standing member of the Secretariat Le Hong Anh, passed away on the afternoon of July 20, at the age of 73.

Doctor, Meritorious Physician Nguyen Kim Thu, born on September 23, 1953 in Vinh Phong Commune, Vinh Thuan District, Kien Giang Province (now An Giang Province). Permanent residence at 525A Doan Huu Trung, An Khanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. She is the former Head of the Obstetrics Department of Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital.

According to information from the funeral organizers and family, the coffin of Doctor and Meritorious Physician Nguyen Kim Thu is being kept at her private home in An Khanh ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

The funeral will begin at 12:00 on July 21. The memorial service will be at 8:00 on July 24. The funeral will be held at 9:00 on the same day. After that, the coffin of Doctor, Meritorious Physician Nguyen Kim Thu will be buried at Ho Chi Minh City Cemetery (Linh Xuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). The family requests exemption from condolences.

With his contributions to the revolutionary cause and the medical sector, Doctor and Meritorious Physician Nguyen Kim Thu was awarded by the Party and the State: First-class Liberation Medal, Second-class Victory Medal, Third-class Anti-American Resistance Medal, Second-class Independence Medal; and 55-year Party membership badge.

* From May 1968 to July 1969: She participated in the revolution at the Executive Committee of the Farmers' Association of Rach Gia province; then studied nursing at the Go Quao Civil Medicine Department for 1 month and continued studying for 3 months at the Rach Gia Civil Medicine Department.

* From August 1969 to February 1970 : Member of the Executive Committee of the Kien Giang Provincial Farmers' Union.

* From March 1970 to December 1970: Studied vocal and typing classes. Then worked as a secretary, typist and nurse for the Executive Committee of the Rach Gia Provincial Farmers' Association.

* From January 1971 to December 1971 : Typist for 3 groups of activists (Farmers, Youth, Women)

* From December 1971 to January 1973: Studied medical course; then worked at the Executive Committee of Rach Gia Provincial Farmers' Association.

* From March 1973 to May 1974: Secretary of the Youth Union of the Farmers' Association, Party Committee member of the Provincial Farmers' Association.

* From June 1974 to March 1975: Worked at Rach Gia Civil Medicine Department; Deputy Secretary of Rach Gia Civil Medicine Youth Union.

* From April 1975 to July 1975: Teaching at Kien Giang Medical School.

* From August 1975 to December 1975: Worked at the Pediatrics Department, Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital.

* From January 1976 to September 1976: Worked at the Family Planning Station of Kien Giang province.

* From October 1976 to May 1977: Studied family planning class at the Hanoi Institute for Mother and Newborn Protection and then worked at the Family Planning Station of Kien Giang Province.

* From June 1977 to December 1982 : Worked at the Obstetrics clinic under the general examination area, Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital.

* From January 1983 to June 1984: Studied cultural supplementary courses at Kien Giang Medical High School.

* From July 1984 to September 1987: Studied at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, graduated as a medical doctor, majoring in surgery.

* September 1991: Doctor at the Obstetrics Department, Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital.

* From September 25, 1991 to June 14, 1993: Deputy Head of Obstetrics Department, Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital.

* June 15, 1993: She was appointed Head of Obstetrics Department, Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital.

* From November 14, 1994 to March 5, 1996: She was a member of the Party Committee of Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital, Secretary of the Obstetrics Department Party Cell.

* From March 6, 1996 to September 30, 1997: She was a Party Committee member of Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital, Secretary of the Obstetrics Department Party Cell.

* 2007: she retired under the regime.
