Stop organizing the Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival in 2024 in Ninh Thuan province

The provincial People's Committee said that the 6th Cham Cultural Festival in Ninh Thuan province was supposed to be held for 4 days (from December 19 to 22), with the participation of 9 provinces and cities including: Ninh Thuan, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Binh Thuan, An Giang, Tay Ninh, Quang Nam, Da Nang city and Ho Chi Minh city. However, the preparation for the festival was not thorough, and there were some errors in the implementation of bidding procedures for the package of services to provide equipment installation, sound and lighting systems, and the implementation of the opening and closing art programs of the festival.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, re-implementing the contractor selection process through online bidding for the above packages will take a lot of time. In addition, the work of mobilizing socialized funding for organizing the event has encountered many difficulties. Moreover, the provinces and cities participating in the Festival also expressed difficulties in mobilizing teams to perform for the event; at the same time, localities are also urgently focusing on streamlining the apparatus.

For that reason, the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province issued Official Dispatch No. 5846/UBND-VXNV dated December 11, 2024 to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration, sharing and approval to adjust the time to organize the 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival in Ninh Thuan province in the first quarter of 2025.

Previously, on November 20, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a notice calling on units and localities to participate in the Festival from December 19 to 22. The Festival includes cultural activities such as: Opening and closing ceremonies; mass art festival and Cham ethnic costume performance; organizing a space to display local products and cuisine ; performing traditional crafts and Cham cultural rituals and sports competitions.
