With the advantage of being located at the southern gateway of Hanoi capital with important traffic hubs of railway, waterway, and road, over the years, Duy Tien town has been identified as the key industrial development center of the province. Accordingly, many industrial zones and clusters have been planned, built and developed in the area. These are favorable conditions for Duy Tien to create a breakthrough in the development of industry and handicrafts, creating momentum to promote the local socio -economic development in a fast and sustainable direction.
From a purely agricultural district, becoming a key industrial development center of the province is truly a spectacular transformation of the Party Committee, government and people of Duy Tien over the past many years. Currently, in Duy Tien town, there are 6 industrial parks (IPs) with a total area of 1,346 hectares; 5 industrial clusters with a total area of 191.67 hectares. The industrial parks and clusters in the area are operating effectively, attracting 1,231 enterprises of all economic sectors; contributing to creating jobs for nearly 70,000 workers (local workers account for about 90%), with an average income of over 8 million VND/person/month.
Along with industrial parks and clusters, Duy Tien town currently has 9 craft villages (5 traditional handicraft villages, 4 handicraft villages) and 11 villages with occupations, with an average income of about 4-6 million VND/person/month. In particular, on December 26, 2023, according to Decision No. 1686/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on approving the planning of Ha Nam province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Duy Tien town is planned to have 3 more industrial parks with a total area of 730 hectares, of which Dong Van V Industrial Park is 250 hectares, Dong Van VI Industrial Park is 250 hectares, Chau Giang I Industrial Park is 210 hectares; planning to add 2 more industrial clusters, with a total area increased by 20 hectares, including: Tien Son craft village industrial cluster 10 hectares, Nha Xa craft village industrial cluster 10 hectares... That is the important factor for Duy Tien to continue to realize the goal of becoming a key industrial development area of the province.
In 2024, on the basis of promoting advantages and achievements in 2023, right from the first months of 2024, Duy Tien town has simultaneously and effectively deployed solutions on site clearance (GPMB); construction of traffic infrastructure, infrastructure of industrial parks and clusters; linking training of high-quality human resources... Thereby, creating a positive change in the field of industry - handicrafts; contributing to the effective implementation of Resolution No. 11-NQ/TU, dated September 15, 2021 of the Ha Nam Provincial Party Committee on promoting industrial development, focusing on high-tech industry, supporting industry, processing, manufacturing and services for modern and sustainable industrial development in the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030.
According to the report of the Town People's Committee, in the first 6 months of the year, the town's socio-economic situation continued to maintain stability and development, many basic socio-economic development indicators reached over 50% of the plan set for 2024. Notably, the industrial and handicraft production value reached over 59 trillion VND, an increase of 21.2% over the same period in 2023. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached 7,119 billion VND, an increase of 15.23%; creating new jobs for 2,630 people, reducing the poverty rate to 1.09%.
Along with solutions to promote the development of industry and handicrafts, in the first 6 months of 2024, Duy Tien town has also done a good job of site clearance, creating a clean site for 41 investment projects in the area (of which, 5 projects have been completed; 13 projects have been basically completed, the remaining projects are being implemented). At the same time, coordinating with the Provincial Industrial Park Management Board to submit for appraisal and have been approved by the Provincial People's Committee the Construction Planning at a scale of 1/2000 of Dong Van III Industrial Park East of Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway, Dong Van V Industrial Park, Dong Van IV Industrial Park with a total area of 723 hectares; organizing appraisal and submitting for approval the detailed construction planning at a scale of 1/500 of Dong Van III Support Industrial Park East of Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway.
Although the industrial and handicraft sector in the first 6 months of 2024 still maintained a stable growth rate, however, to complete the 2024 plan target, with the total industrial and handicraft production value (SS 2010 price) estimated at 114,419 billion VND, an increase of 10.12% compared to 2023, Mr. Pham Van Thap, Head of the Economic Department of Duy Tien town said that in the coming time, the town needs to focus resources, speed up the progress of social infrastructure projects, services serving the activities of industrial parks and clusters such as: social housing, workers' housing, trade - service sectors, public works... At the same time, strengthen investment promotion activities; promote administrative reform, simplify administrative procedures; speed up the progress of site clearance for key projects in the area, ensuring the handover of clean sites to investors on schedule; Continue to effectively implement the town's 10 investment commitments; strengthen dialogue activities with businesses and investors, quickly remove obstacles in attracting investment; create favorable conditions for businesses to promote efficiency after investment...
Effectively implementing the above solutions, along with strong internal resources, we believe that Duy Tien town will exceed the planned targets in economic development; especially in the field of industry and handicrafts: worthy of being the key industrial development area of the province.
