(CPV) - The renovation of the 110kV Cho Lon transformer station uses new technology with a small, compact size, contributing to saving land use area to install several third 110kV/24kV transformers to increase the power supply capacity for the area.

On December 17, 2024, the Trade Union of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) held a ceremony to put up a signboard for the project "Renovation of Cho Lon 110kV Transformer Station". This is a competitive project of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnam Electricity Industry (December 21, 1954 - December 21, 2024).
Attending the ceremony were comrade Do Duc Hung - Chairman of Vietnam Electricity Trade Union; comrade Nguyen Minh Tung - Member of the Board of Directors, comrade Do Thi Xuan Chi - Member of the Board of Directors, comrade Bui Trung Kien - Deputy General Director; comrade Bui Hai Thanh - Deputy General Director, comrade Le Van Minh - Chairman of EVNHCMC Trade Union and representatives of professional departments and units under EVNHCMC.
The project "Renovation of Cho Lon 110kV Transformer Station" is a Group B power industry project, with a total investment of more than 182 billion VND, invested by EVNHCMC, started in June 2023, built within the existing Cho Lon 110kV Transformer Station (No. 277 Minh Phung Street, Ward 2, District 11).
The project was accepted and put into operation on October 23, 2024 and the sign was affixed today.
The main items of the project are the construction of a 2-storey building with installation of 110kV and 24kV GIS equipment; a computerized protection control system with remote control capability.
The 110kV Cho Lon transformer station was built and put into operation in 1966, using high and medium voltage outdoor equipment with a large land area. After more than 50 years of operation, the outdated and degraded equipment must be regularly repaired and maintained. With the policy of modernizing the power grid, improving the reliability of power supply to districts 5, 10, 11 - the economic and cultural centers of the city, EVNHCMC decided to invest in renovating the station, replacing outdated equipment with modern equipment with advanced technology.
The renovation of the 110kV Cho Lon transformer station using new technology with a small, compact size contributes to saving land use area to be able to install several 3rd 110kV/24kV transformers to increase the power supply capacity for the area, in the context of increasingly scarce land fund in the city center.

With the mission of meeting the electricity demand for socio-economic development, national security and defense and people's lives in the city, over the past years, EVNHCMC has proactively planned and implemented the renovation, upgrading and construction of new transformer stations and power transmission lines to modernize the power grid, improve the capacity and reliability of electricity supply to the City.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Trung Kien - Deputy General Director of EVNHCMC said: “2024 is a year of acceleration and breakthrough, which is of special importance in the successful implementation of the 5-year socio-economic development plan, period 2021 - 2025. However, the economic context and production and business situation still have many difficulties and challenges. However, with the spirit of overcoming difficulties, competing in labor production to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Vietnam Electricity Industry's Traditional Day, the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. The emulation to complete the production and business plan in 2024 will create a foundation and motivation for the Corporation to strive to successfully complete the political tasks and key targets for the period 2021 - 2025. Accordingly, the Corporation's Trade Union has accompanied the profession in launching many practical emulation movements to strive to excellently complete production and business tasks. The movements and programs launched have motivated all employees to compete every day and every hour to complete the 2024 Production and Business Plan of the unit and the Corporation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Do Duc Hung - Chairman of Vietnam Electricity Trade Union emphasized that the ceremony of putting up the signboard of the project "Renovation of 110kV Cho Lon Transformer Station" is a very meaningful event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnam Electricity Industry (December 21, 1954 - December 21, 2024). The achievement of this project is the result of the efforts, spirit of overcoming all difficulties and high responsibility of the collective of cadres, employees, and union members of EVNHCMC.
On this occasion, Vietnam Electricity Trade Union and EVNHCMC Trade Union awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the implementation of the project "Renovation of Cho Lon 110kV Transformer Station".
