Gala celebrating 80 years of Agriculture and Environment

The 80th Anniversary Gala of the Agriculture and Environment sector honors the journey of green, sustainable development and towards an ecological and happy economy.

On the evening of November 11, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment held a Gala to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment sector. Attending the Gala were leaders, former leaders of the Party and State, representatives of ministries, departments, branches, central and local organizations, representatives of international organizations, businesses, partners and all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the whole sector.

Speaking at the Gala, Minister Tran Duc Thang emphasized: “Today, we are all present in joy, excitement and deep pride on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment and development of the Vietnamese Agriculture and Environment sector. This is not only a journey of production and resource management but also a journey of faith, responsibility and aspiration to build a country of sustainable development and happiness.

From the early days of the anti-famine resistance war in 1945 until now, when the country entered the era of digital transformation and green development, the Agriculture and Environment sector has always been closely linked to the destiny of the nation, becoming the livelihood support of the people and a shield to protect the life of the country.

The mark of 80 years of effort and aspiration

According to Minister Tran Duc Thang, over the past 80 years, each stage of the country's development has been marked by the efforts, intelligence and dedication of millions of people, from hardworking farmers, engineers, scientists to generations of officials in the Agriculture and Environment sectors.

This is the force that has kept the home front green, mastered national resources so that today we have a green, circular, digital, modern and sustainable agriculture, an economy that puts people and nature at the center of development.

Minister Tran Duc Thang, on behalf of the Ministry's leadership, warmly welcomed the leaders, delegates, distinguished guests and all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the entire industry who were present at the Gala night celebrating 80 years of glorious tradition.

He said that over the past time, the Agriculture and Environment sector has successfully completed many national strategic targets, making great contributions to the country's socio-economic development. These results are the sweat, intelligence and aspirations of many generations, and the journey of transforming knowledge into national strength.

A turning point towards integrated, intelligent development

A notable milestone mentioned by Minister Tran Duc Thang is the merger between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment from March 1, 2025, opening a new development period.

According to him, this is not only an organizational arrangement but also a symbol of national wisdom, experience and aspiration to shift from extensive growth to green growth, from sectoral development to integrated, smart development, with people at the center and happiness as the highest goal.

Looking back over 80 years, Minister Tran Duc Thang affirmed that the most valuable lesson that the Agriculture and Environment sector has learned is that sustainable development starts from the ground and from the hearts of people. From farmers with fields to managers, from farmers with knowledge to people with data and the right to decide their own future, that is the identity, vision and mission of the Agriculture and Environment sector of Vietnam.

On behalf of the Ministry's leadership, Minister Tran Duc Thang expressed his deep gratitude to the Party and State for always caring, directing, orienting and encouraging the industry in every stage of development; previous generations - those who laid a solid foundation for the industry; all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the entire industry - those who are working day and night, creating and dedicating to the cause of developing green agriculture, ecological economy and environmental protection; localities, enterprises, international organizations and development partners who have always accompanied, shared beliefs and aspirations with the industry over the past 80 years.

Looking to the future, the Agriculture and Environment sector will continue to play a central role in the country's green transformation process with the following goals: Developing ecological industry, modern countryside, civilized citizens; protecting, exploiting and sustainably using natural resources; proactively adapting to climate change, ensuring national environmental security; contributing to building a country that develops rapidly, sustainably and happily.

At the end of his speech, Minister Tran Duc Thang sent his congratulations on the success of the 80th Anniversary of the Vietnam Agriculture and Environment Sector, and wished health, peace and happiness to the leaders, delegates, distinguished guests and all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the sector.
