On international trade, tensions between China and Europe escalated as Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao called on Germany to urge the Netherlands to withdraw its decision to seize chipmaker Nexperia.

In response, Beijing imposed export restrictions on Nexperia products made in China, disrupting the supply of chips to the auto industry. However, China has allowed some exemptions from the controls, which has helped to improve the situation somewhat.

In the electric vehicle sector, BYD aims to sell 1.6 million vehicles internationally by 2026, a sharp increase from its 2025 plan, thereby expanding demand for rubber for tire production.

In Malaysia, natural rubber production in September decreased by 14.8% month-on-month and 16.3% year-on-year to 26,647 tonnes, while inventories increased slightly by 0.7%, indicating that the regional market remained relatively balanced.
