Meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Public Security Traditional Day and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection

(gialai.gov.vn) - On the morning of August 15, at the Provincial Conference Center (Quy Nhon Ward), the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province solemnly held a meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People's Public Security (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025). This is an opportunity to review the heroic feats, glorious traditions, and revolutionary heroism of the People's Public Security Force (CAND) in the Ho Chi Minh era; to arouse national pride, promote the spirit of solidarity, and hone the political mettle of the CAND soldiers, always ready to accept tasks, accept hardships, sacrifices, and devote themselves wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly to serving the Fatherland and the People, "knowing that as long as the Party exists, we exist".

Attending the meeting were comrades: Ho Quoc Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; former provincial leaders; Pham Anh Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; members of the Standing Committee of the People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, National Assembly Delegation of the province; representatives of leaders of departments, branches, sectors, and organizations; representatives of religious dignitaries; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces and representatives of families of heroic martyrs of the People's Public Security; leaders, former leaders, officers and soldiers of the Provincial Public Security through the periods.

The meeting was held in person and online from the Provincial Conference Center to 135 communes and wards across the province.

Over the past 80 years, regardless of the period or name, the People's Public Security Forces have always maintained a steadfast political stance, remained absolutely loyal to the Party, achieved many glorious feats, and contributed greatly to the cause of national liberation, ensuring national security, order, and social safety. During the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, the Public Security Forces maintained the free zone, protected the absolute safety of the Party and State's headquarters, resistance bases, and key military campaigns, making an important contribution to the historic Dien Bien Phu victory, ensuring order, security, and protecting the cause of building socialism in the North, actively supporting the Southern battlefield; steadfastly fighting to defeat the enemy's intelligence and espionage plans, "pacification" and "recruitment" activities; protect revolutionary movements, take over liberated zones, together with the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people completely liberate the South, unify the country...

The glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Public Security Forces is also highlighted by the blood of more than 14,000 police officers and soldiers who heroically sacrificed themselves and more than 20,000 police officers and soldiers who were injured on the battlefields. The glorious feats of arms and the heroic sacrifices of generations of police officers and soldiers have become immortal, as President Ho Chi Minh said: "The flesh and blood of martyrs have dyed the revolutionary flag even more brilliant red. The sacrifices of martyrs have prepared our country for the blossoming of independence and the fruit of freedom."

Together with the Public Security Forces of the whole country, the Gia Lai Provincial Public Security Forces have always been absolutely loyal to the Party, closely attached to the People, with revolutionary enthusiasm, steadfastly fought and suppressed counter-revolutionary organizations. The country was unified, the Gia Lai Provincial Public Security Forces joined hands with the People to overcome the severe consequences left by the war; carried out the work of building and defending the Fatherland, and entered the period of renewal with the country; continued to play a core and pioneering role on the front line of the struggle to maintain political security, order, and social safety, to protect the Party, the State, the independence and sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland, for the peace and happy life of the People.

Not only on the front of protecting national security, maintaining social order and safety, the People's Public Security force in general, and the Gia Lai Provincial Public Security in particular, have also effectively implemented the Party and State's policies on streamlining the apparatus in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 12 of the Politburo, ensuring effective, efficient and effective operations associated with the work of building a truly clean, strong, disciplined, elite and modern People's Public Security force, meeting the requirements of national development in the era of national development. Along with that are important results in implementing the construction of a national database system on population and the issuance of citizen identification cards and electronic identification, contributing to promoting national digital transformation.

With outstanding achievements over the past 80 years, the Provincial Police force has been honored to receive many noble awards and titles from the Party, the State and the Ministry of Public Security such as: Ho Chi Minh Medal; Resistance Medal; many collectives and individuals were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces and other noble awards.

Realizing the importance and great role of the People in the need to protect national security in the period of globalization and deep international economic integration, on June 13, 2005, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 521/2005/QD-TTg to take August 19 every year as "National Day for National Security Protection".

Over the past 20 years, promoting the tradition of being closely attached to the people, relying on the people in work and combat, the People's Public Security force in the province has regularly promoted the movement of the People protecting the security of the Fatherland and linked with many other patriotic movements such as: Campaign "The people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas", "Elimination of hunger and poverty", "Building new rural areas",... With 300 models, more than 2,500 mass organizations protecting security and order at the grassroots level throughout the province, the movement of the people protecting the security of the Fatherland has truly brought into play its effect, contributing significantly to strengthening the increasingly solid people's security posture and maintaining security and order in the area.

At the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung praised and commended comrades and people who have contributed to the cause of protecting national security; praised the great feats and achievements of the police forces in the province, contributing to the cause of socio-economic development in the locality.

In the coming time, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ho Quoc Dung requested the Provincial Police force to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the tasks and targets assigned by the Central Party Committee of the Public Security, the Ministry of Public Security, the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial People's Committee, and well implement the proposed work plan. In particular, it is necessary to focus on further promoting the glorious revolutionary tradition, upholding the principle of the Party's direct, absolute, and comprehensive leadership of the Public Security force. Focus on concretizing and continuing to implement the goal of building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern People's Public Security force by 2030 in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. Strengthen the work of Party building, building a clean and strong Provincial Police force; continue to promote studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh associated with the movement "CAND study and follow the six teachings of Uncle Ho".

Continue to organize and implement well the work of grasping, forecasting, and assessing the situation closely and accurately; promptly advise the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to direct all levels, sectors, and organizations in the entire political system to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on ensuring social order and safety; prevent early, from afar, from the grassroots level, not to be passive or surprised. Step up the fight against crime; especially organize well the peak period of attacking and suppressing crimes, absolutely protect security and safety on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the 14th National Party Congress, the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to People's Councils at all levels, term 2026-2031; key targets, projects, and activities of Party and State leaders in the province. Implement well the work of receiving and handling denunciations and reports on crimes; Improve the quality of investigation, prosecution, and trial, and ensure that no criminals are left behind. Strengthen the work of ensuring order, traffic safety, fire prevention, fire fighting, and rescue; and ensure network security.

Strengthen the application of scientific and technological achievements, advanced and modern techniques in all aspects of work; promote administrative reform towards improving the effectiveness of state management of security and order. Actively and effectively implement tasks related to Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, national digital transformation and Project 06 of the Government, ensuring quality and efficiency.

Promote the movement of the entire people to protect national security, creating a combined strength to successfully carry out the task of protecting security and order, maintaining political stability, effectively serving the cause of building and firmly protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

On this occasion, 10 collectives and 20 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in organizing activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Public Security Traditional Day and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection.
