Rising pig prices help livestock 'giants' make big profits
The price of live pigs has increased from 50,000 VND/kg to an average of 70,000 VND/kg over the past year, helping livestock businesses benefit, according to Tri Thuc Electronic Magazine.
Dabaco Vietnam Group Joint Stock Company (HoSE: DBC) is one of the first livestock enterprises on the stock exchange to announce its financial report for the first quarter of 2025, showing a bright business picture with revenue of VND 3,609 billion, up 11% over the same period last year.
After deducting all expenses, Chairman Nguyen Nhu So's company reported a net profit of VND508 billion, seven times higher than the same period last year. This is also Dabaco's largest quarterly profit ever.
According to Dabaco leaders, in the first quarter, the epidemic situation in poultry and livestock was controlled, and farmers and companies promoted herd restoration. The price of live pigs in the quarter was much higher than the same period last year, so the profits of livestock companies increased.
At the recent annual general meeting of shareholders, Mr. Nguyen Nhu So also affirmed that if the price of live pigs remains at 60,000 VND/kg, the company will certainly achieve 1,500 billion VND in net profit this year.
