Gia Lai lets students stay home from school to avoid flooding

Implementing the telegram of the Ministry of Education and Training and the People's Committee of Gia Lai province on focusing on responding to heavy rains, floods, and landslides to minimize damage caused by natural disasters, the Department of Education and Training of the province has issued an official dispatch requesting educational institutions in the area to let students of all levels stay home from school from the morning of November 19 until further notice.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Gia Lai province has 760,306 students studying at 1,265 schools of all levels in the area. School facilities that allow students to take time off from school may be requisitioned by the locality to receive people who have to evacuate from deep, dangerous low-lying areas to avoid floods on high water days. This is also a place for people in low-lying areas to move valuable belongings to store.
