At the scene, VNA reporters witnessed a 50-70 meter stretch of road at km 226+700 of National Highway 20 completely collapse into a deep abyss of nearly 20 meters. Many large pine trees were also pulled down into the collapsed area. The collapsed area had a circular culvert about 1 meter in diameter running across the road with water flowing. The entire road surface of the collapsed location was lost to the drainage ditch on the positive slope side.

Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, who was on duty at the scene, said the incident happened at around 11:10 p.m. on November 19. At that time, a sleeper bus of Phuong Trang Company was approaching, but thanks to the driver's good handling of the situation, he was able to brake in time right on the edge of the subsidence. After receiving the news, the ward police, traffic police, fire prevention and rescue police and local authorities were present to block off the dangerous area. That same night, the authorities organized traffic diversion into Da Lat city.
Currently, vehicles enter the center of Lam Dong province in 2 directions: direction 1 from the end of Lien Khuong-Prenn highway through Sacom pass (Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area) for motorbikes, family cars, small tourist cars and trucks under 3.5 tons because this route is narrow and winding. For large passenger cars and trucks over 3.5 tons, they will go from the beginning of Lien Khuong-Prenn highway, turn left onto National Highway 27, to Cua Rung intersection, then follow Provincial Road 725 through Ta Nung pass.
Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan said that the Department of Construction is currently researching ways to fix the landslide area. For now, the road surface can be opened to the positive slope to create a temporary road for vehicles to pass through. As for the area where the road surface has collapsed, specialized agencies will research solutions to fix it, and a bridge can also be built because the collapsed area is very deep and wide...

Previously, VNA reporters reported on the morning of November 17 that Prenn Pass (the gateway to Da Lat) suffered a serious landslide at location K224 + 854 (near Datanla Bridge) due to prolonged rain over the past two days. The landslide was on the negative slope, causing the asphalt concrete road surface to crack, extending for about 20m, with some sections eating into almost half of the road surface on the negative slope. In this area, a series of large cracks also appeared on the road surface, with the risk of further landslides in the coming days.
On the afternoon of November 17, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province announced a natural disaster emergency situation for the Prenn Pass road. The Provincial Traffic Police force banned people and vehicles from traveling through the pass. After the closure of Prenn Pass, Mimosa Pass became the main route for large and small vehicles to enter Da Lat city...
