Son Dong Secondary School is one of the oldest and most prestigious educational institutions in Son Dong Commune, Lap Thach District, Vinh Phuc Province in the past, now Son Dong Commune, Phu Tho Province. Son Dong Commune is a locality with a tradition of studiousness with the famous village of doctors - Quan Tu village.
Quan Tu is known as the province's "village of doctors" - a famous land of mandarin examinations with 12 Confucian doctors, many of whom held important positions in the feudal dynasties of Vietnam. Over hundreds of years, the tradition of studiousness has been deeply ingrained in the blood of every person here.
Shandong Secondary School was established in September 1963, formerly Shandong Secondary School. Over the past 60 years, despite many hardships, the school has overcome difficulties, creating a reliable "person-growing address", making a worthy contribution to the development of local education .
In recent years, with the investment of local authorities and the support of local people, the school's facilities have become increasingly spacious and modern.
Over time, the school's teaching staff has been trained and nurtured in professional quality, in teacher ethics, and in their efforts and dedication to the task of "cultivating morality and talent" for generations of students and are shining examples for them to follow.

In recent years, the school's key and general education results have achieved impressive results. In the 2023-2024 school year, more than 99% of the school's students achieved Good and Fair conduct. In terms of academic performance, the percentage of students achieving Excellent and Fair grades accounted for nearly 50%. Over 97% of students graduated from junior high school, of which the Excellent and Fair grades reached nearly 54%. The school's 10th grade entrance exam scores were among the highest in the district and province. By the 2024-2025 school year, the school's educational achievements continued to achieve impressive results. The percentage of students achieving Excellent and Fair grades accounted for nearly 45%. In the 10th grade entrance exam, the school's passing rate compared to the number of students taking the exam reached 92.66%, continuing to be the unit with the average subject scores among the top in the district. In particular, the school has many students achieving high scores in the exam, at the Tran Nguyen Han High School exam council when all 3 leading students (Valedictorian, Salutatorian) were students of Son Dong Secondary School, 11 students were in the top 20 candidates with the highest scores.
The results of key education are also a highlight in the school's achievements. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school's students won 51 district-level excellent student awards. In the provincial excellent student competition, the school also had a student win second prize. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school's key education achievements continued to improve. In the district-level excellent student competition, the school's students won 53 prizes, of which grade 6 ranked 3rd out of 21 schools in terms of quality and number of prizes; grade 8 ranked 8th in terms of quality of prizes, ranked 3rd out of 21 schools in terms of number of prizes.
In the provincial level 9th grade excellent student competition, the school's students also excelled in winning 1 third prize and 1 encouragement prize at the Student Competition with startup ideas. In sports competitions, the school has students participating and achieving many high achievements.

In recent years, Son Dong Secondary School has always been a prestigious educational address, ranked among the top in Lap Thach district (old) in terms of quality of mass and spearhead education. The school has been awarded Certificates of Merit by the Minister of Education and Training and the Provincial People's Committee many times. This achievement is the crystallization of the spirit of solidarity and persistent efforts of the teaching staff; and especially, marked by the outstanding role of Principal Le Thanh Binh.
Born in 1985, with a Master's degree in Mathematics, Mr. Le Thanh Binh is considered by his colleagues to have an innovative mindset, the ability to gather and a humane leadership style. Before being appointed as Principal of Son Dong Secondary School, he had many years of experience in important positions in the industry. Mr. Binh used to be the Vice Principal of Lap Thach Secondary School - this is a high-quality school of Lap Thach district (old), an environment that requires modern management capacity, high discipline and the ability to organize educational activities according to advanced model standards. This period of time helped him accumulate core management skills such as strategic planning, professional management, team building and spreading the culture of innovation to each professional group and team.
Not only stopping at school management, Mr. Binh also worked at the Lap Thach Department of Education and Training (formerly) as a junior high school professional officer. Working at the department level gave him a comprehensive view of the entire junior high school level in the locality, clearly understanding the strengths and limitations, the requirements for innovation, and how to organize an effective education system. Thanks to that, when returning to the school environment as a leader, he has the ability to make practical, scientific and strategic decisions.
Taking on the role of Principal at Son Dong Secondary School, Mr. Le Thanh Binh quickly worked with the team to build a comprehensive innovation orientation. His motto is "management by accompanying and leading, not by giving orders". He always listens to and respects teachers' opinions; inspires creativity; encourages the application of information technology; and at the same time maintains a disciplined, friendly and humanistic environment.
In the teacher, students feel closeness and encouragement; and teachers feel trust, sharing and support to confidently innovate professionally. Many movements, playgrounds and clubs are strongly opened thanks to the "inspiration" of the leader. That is also the reason why the school's education quality indicators are continuously maintained at a high and sustainable level.
With his contributions to the education cause, Mr. Binh has been an Emulation Fighter for many years, receiving Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; honored by the Department of Education and Training as an Outstanding Teacher in 2023; and recently, he was one of the few Principals to be honored at the 1st Conference of Typical Advanced Teachers of Phu Tho Province, period 2025 - 2030.
However, perhaps for this 8X teacher, the greatest reward is not the certificates of merit but the respect, trust and pride that colleagues, students and parents give him. That is the "sweet fruit" of his journey of dedication, responsibility and aspiration to serve the cause of educating people in his studious homeland of Shandong.
