The 2024 Wildflower - Chu Dang Ya Volcano Week will take place in Gia Lai province with many unique cultural, sports and artistic activities...

Gia Lai Department of Information and Communications has just held a press conference about this event and said that the Wild Sunflower Week - Chu Dang Ya Volcano 2024 will take place from November 6 to 12, 2024 to promote local cultural identities and promote sustainable tourism investment in the locality.

The focus of the series of events is from November 8 to 10; the highlight of which is the opening ceremony on November 8 at the communal house yard of Ia Gri village, Chu Dang Ya commune with the ceremony to receive the Vietnamese record for the gong performance with the largest number of participants. Many other exciting activities include: the competition to conquer the peak of Chu Dang Ya volcano, folk art and traditional costumes performances, hot air balloon releases, and the 2024 Half Marathon with the theme "Awakening the Chu Pah countryside - Journey connecting Mountains and Flowers".

The activities take place simultaneously at many locations in Nghia Hung commune, Pleiku Lake area and Chu Pah area, giving visitors the opportunity to experience Gia Lai's scenery and learn about the Central Highlands culture, promising to bring unique experiences, contributing to preserving traditional culture and promoting local economic development.

In particular, Gia Lai province continues to introduce the image of wild sunflowers associated with Chu Dang Ya volcano, which was voted by the Vietnam Record Organization (Vietking) as one of the "Top" 10 most attractive destinations in Gia Lai; in which Chu Dang Ya crater was recognized as one of the 10 most beautiful craters in the world, voted by the British TIME magazine in 2018.

Gia Lai owns a large basalt plateau with traces of many volcanoes that were extinct millions of years ago, but still have their original shape, and have become symbols of Pleiku city and Gia Lai province. Famous volcanoes/craters in this Central Highlands region include the pair of yin-yang volcanoes Ham Rong - Bien Ho, also known as T'nung lake (north of Pleiku city), Chu Dang Ya volcano (northeast of Pleiku)...

Wild sunflowers are a characteristic beauty, a natural "specialty" of the vast Central Highlands. In Gia Lai, at this time, wild sunflowers appear everywhere from hillsides to valleys, but the most numerous, most beautiful and most attractive to tourists are wild sunflowers growing at the foot of Chu Dang Ya volcano. In other words, Chu Dang Ya volcano is known as the paradise of wild sunflowers. To admire the beauty of wild sunflowers, visitors have to walk about 20 minutes to climb to the top of the mountain. This is also an interesting experience for tourists who go backpacking, climbing mountains, and picnicking back to nature.
