Recognizing the importance of occupational safety and health (OSH) for sustainable development, in recent times, grassroots trade unions and businesses in Gia Lam commune have closely coordinated and implemented many practical and comprehensive solutions, helping to ensure OSH achieve tangible results.

Improving working conditions for workers.

Located in Gia Lam commune, Lixil Vietnam Co., Ltd. has over 2,000 employees. Mr. Dinh Quoc Toan, Chairman of the Trade Union of Lixil Vietnam Co., Ltd., stated that with the overarching principle of "ensuring the health of workers to increase productivity and maintain the Inax sanitary ware brand," occupational safety and health is always a top priority for the Trade Union Executive Committee and the company's leadership.

Chairman of Gia Lam Commune Trade Union, Nguyen Xuan Truong, launched the Workers' Month and the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026.

Accordingly, the Trade Union, in coordination with the Company's leadership, has intensified propaganda and education , disseminated policies and laws, and provided occupational safety and health training for workers. Given the specific nature of the ceramics manufacturing industry, the use of raw materials like clay and stone, and the production process involving a hot, dusty environment and strenuous work, the Trade Union has advised the Company's leadership to conduct quarterly and annual environmental monitoring and invest in projects to improve heavy lifting, installing hundreds of electric hoists to reduce the need for carrying heavy objects weighing over 30kg.

In addition, the Trade Union advised the company to build many rest rooms for workers during lunch breaks and to invest in installing dozens of high-capacity air conditioners for work areas with high temperatures. Over the years, Lixil Vietnam Co., Ltd. has not experienced any serious work accidents or major fire incidents.

Not only at Lixil Vietnam Co., Ltd., but also many businesses in Gia Lam commune have focused on ensuring occupational safety. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong, Chairman of the Gia Lam Commune Trade Union, said that with the guidance of the commune's Trade Union, last year, the "Green - Clean - Beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and health" emulation movement was actively responded to by agencies, units, and businesses in the commune through specific and practical activities.

The leaders of Gia Lam commune commended collectives and individuals for their achievements in the "Green - Clean - Beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and health" emulation movement in 2025.

Local trade unions have closely coordinated with the government and relevant professional departments to promote the dissemination of information and raise awareness among union members and workers about occupational safety and health; strengthened coordination in self-inspection of occupational safety and health and fire prevention; organized tree planting and cleaning activities on weekends, waste sorting, and promoted activities to improve working conditions, aiming towards "building and developing a safety culture in the workplace".

Building on the achievements already made, in 2026, occupational safety and health work will continue to be a focus of the Gia Lam Commune Trade Union, along with other grassroots trade unions and enterprises, primarily demonstrated by their active participation in the 2026 Occupational Safety and Health Action Month. According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong, from the end of April 2026, the Gia Lam Commune Trade Union organized the launching ceremony for the Workers' Month and the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month (from May 1st to May 31st) to create a peak period in implementing occupational safety and health work.

A workplace safety training course for employees was organized at Lixil Vietnam Co., Ltd.

During the Action Month, the commune's trade union guides grassroots trade unions to closely coordinate with employers to review and monitor the implementation of plans, regulations, rules, procedures, and measures to ensure occupational safety and health; minimize occupational accidents and diseases; and provide healthcare for workers.

Responding to the initiative launched by the commune's Trade Union, the Chairman of the Trade Union of Lixil Vietnam Co., Ltd., Dinh Quoc Toan, stated that the company's Trade Union is committed to implementing the Action Month with specific and practical contents. The company's Trade Union will strengthen propaganda to raise awareness so that union members voluntarily comply strictly with legal regulations on occupational safety and health; and provide training on the operation procedures of hazardous equipment and toxic chemicals for 100% of relevant staff and workers.
