Gia Lam: Training on developing agricultural and rural community tourism

At the training session, Deputy Head of the Department of Planning and Development of Tourism Resources - Hanoi Department of Tourism Pham Diem Hao said that agricultural - rural tourism is not simply about sightseeing and experience but also a bridge for tourists to explore and appreciate the indigenous cultural values, traditional occupations and typical agricultural ecosystems of each locality. On March 4, 2022, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Plan No. 73/KH-UBND on developing agricultural and rural tourism economy associated with new rural construction in Hanoi for the period 2022-2025, which is an important legal basis for implementing the task of developing tourism associated with preserving and promoting the value of agricultural and rural resources in the city.

The city orients the development of agricultural and rural tourism based on promoting traditional cultural values ​​and the landscape environment of rural areas, contributing to the restructuring of the rural economy and building sustainable new rural areas; increasing the attraction of social resources, especially from the private sector, and active participation from the local community for investment in the development of agricultural and rural tourism, contributing to the restructuring of the rural economy, creating jobs on the spot, and increasing income for workers.

Gia Lam has many advantages in developing agricultural and rural tourism with concentrated agricultural production areas, many traditional craft villages, many historical and cultural relics, especially its favorable geographical location (near the center of the capital). Coming to Gia Lam, visitors have the opportunity to admire and explore 320 historical and cultural relics, including 1 special national relic, Phu Dong Temple, 64 relics ranked at the national level, 89 relics ranked at the city level; visit and experience many typical traditional festivals, such as the Giong festival, Ba Tam temple festival, Chu Dong Tu festival...

Gia Lam has 4 tourist destinations recognized by the city: Bat Trang, Phu Dong, Duong Xa, Kim Lan. Many tourism products and programs have been exploited, attracting tourists, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the district, especially in building new rural areas. By the end of 2023, the district will have 20/20 communes meeting advanced new rural standards, 7/20 communes meeting model new rural standards, of which 3 communes will meet model new rural standards in tourism, 2 towns: Yen Vien, Trau Quy will meet civilized urban standards.

Through the training, units, organizations and individuals in Gia Lam area will be able to exchange experiences, build a network of connections, and develop tourism in Gia Lam district in a green and sustainable direction. Trainees will also gradually define the direction and develop tourism models suitable to the potential and advantages of the locality, such as cultural tourism, craft villages, and agricultural experiences; apply the knowledge and skills learned, continue to research, cultivate, and disseminate to build more effective models, creating the image of a "Safe - friendly - quality - attractive" tourist destination.
