As one of the first ethnic minority officials since the establishment of Dak La commune (Dak Ha district, Kon Tum province), after retirement, Mr. A Nhen, born in 1956, of the Ba Na ethnic group (Rơ Ngao branch), was trusted by the people and elected as the village elder and a respected figure in the village. For many years, village elder A Nhen has become a positive force helping the local government effectively implement socio -economic development goals, ensure national defense and security, and especially actively participate in the campaign "Changing the mindset and working methods of ethnic minorities, helping ethnic minorities rise out of poverty sustainably".

Despite being nearly 70 years old, village elder A Nhen in Dak Tieng K'Lah hamlet, Dak La commune, remains very agile and resourceful. Every day, in addition to his main job of tending coffee and rubber trees, he often takes advantage of his free time to cultivate land along the stream to grow elephant grass and raise dozens of cows. Furthermore, thanks to the government's preferential policies for respected individuals, he has had the opportunity to receive training and acquire knowledge to invest in machinery for agricultural production, thus striving to become wealthy.

Village elder A Nhen said that thanks to a loan from the District Social Policy Bank, he was able to buy cows and raise a thriving herd. He also mentioned that thanks to government investment in ethnic minority communities to restructure crop and livestock production, his family's life and the village's life have seen positive changes. Not only has he enriched himself and his family, but with his prestige, village elder A Nhen has always been a role model in promoting and mobilizing the people in his village. Following his example, many ethnic minority households in the village have proactively developed their economy, supporting each other in building farming and livestock models to improve their lives and contribute to building a new rural area in the ethnic minority region. Mr. A Duy, from Dak Tieng K'Lah village, shared: "Thanks to the exemplary village elder A Nhen in developing the economy through coffee, rubber, betel nut trees, and livestock farming, everyone in the village has seen and followed his example, and as a result, their lives have improved. When Elder A Nhen spreads his message, everyone in the village readily accepts and follows his lead."

According to Tran Van Tam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak La commune, in recent times, village elder A Nhen has effectively fulfilled his role and responsibilities as a respected figure in disseminating information and mobilizing relatives and villagers to develop family economies, as well as guiding people on how to do business such as farming and livestock raising, contributing to poverty reduction and positive development of household economies in the village.

Elder A Nhen said that to gain the trust and affection of the people, he and his family always set a good example and practice what they preach. However, to achieve progress and development, the State's policies for ethnic minorities are indispensable. Therefore, he further emphasizes his responsibility in propaganda and mobilization work, helping local Party committees and authorities concretize the State's support policies into practice. "In conjunction with the New Rural Development program, the State still has preferential policies and incentives for our ethnic minority people. Thanks to the State's support funds and the people's hard work, everyone's lives have changed significantly, especially in economic development and the transformation of crop and livestock structures," Elder A Nhen stressed.

The village of Đăk Tiêng K'Lah currently has a total of 234 households with over 1,300 inhabitants; 99% of whom are ethnic minority people of the Rơ Ngao branch of the Ba Na ethnic group, who are Catholic. From a particularly disadvantaged village, the poverty rate has now decreased to below 8%, the material and spiritual lives of the people have improved, and security and social order have always been maintained. To achieve these results, in addition to the attention of the local Party committee and government, the village elder A Nhen has made a significant contribution.
