Domestic rice market is stable
In the Mekong Delta provinces, rice transactions are slow, with few arrivals. Today's rice prices generally do not fluctuate much, with varieties such as OM 18, Dai Thom 8, IR 50404... fluctuating between 5,700 - 6,200 VND/kg. Some localities such as An Giang, Dong Thap, Soc Trang recorded stable prices, with occasional buying and selling.
In the raw rice segment, the price of IR 504 increased slightly by VND 50/kg, reaching VND 8,200 - 8,300/kg. The remaining types such as OM 380, CL 555, OM 18 and 5451 remained stable in the familiar price range of VND 7,950 - 9,700/kg.
Retail rice and by-products are less volatile
At traditional markets, retail rice prices remain stable. Nang Nhen rice remains at the highest level of VND28,000/kg, while fragrant varieties such as Huong Lai, Thai, and Taiwanese rice range from VND20,000 to VND22,000/kg. Popular white rice varieties remain at VND13,000 to VND18,000/kg.
By-products such as broken rice, bran and rice husks did not change significantly. Fragrant rice bran IR504 was stable at around 7,250 - 7,350 VND/kg, while the price of bran and rice husks fluctuated around 8,000 VND/kg and 1,000 - 1,150 VND/kg, respectively.
Exports continue to increase slightly
In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices continued to increase slightly compared to yesterday. 5% broken rice reached 381 USD/ton, up 1 USD/ton; 100% broken rice increased by 2 USD, to 319 USD/ton. This price helps Vietnam maintain its advantage over Thailand, India and Pakistan in the context of abundant global supply.
Meanwhile, India, the world’s largest rice exporter, is experiencing a surplus of supply with record inventories of more than 55 million tonnes. Favorable weather conditions have also helped the country expand its sown area, putting further pressure on global rice prices in the coming months.
