Rice price today August 6: Market is quiet

Rice prices in the Mekong Delta today decreased slightly, trading was slow, and supply was limited. Export prices remained stable, but competition increased due to US tariffs and oversupply of white rice.

Domestic rice price today August 6

Rice prices in the Mekong Delta today fluctuated little, trading was slow, and supply was limited. Raw rice prices of OM 5451 decreased by 50 VND/kg, to 9,500 - 9,650 VND/kg; IR 504 was at 8,400 - 8,600 VND/kg; CL 555 was from 9,000 - 9,100 VND/kg; OM 380 was around 7,950 - 8,050 VND/kg; OM 18 was from 9,600 - 9,700 VND/kg.

Retail rice prices remain unchanged

At the markets, rice prices remained unchanged. Nang Nhen rice was the highest at VND28,000/kg; Huong Lai rice was VND22,000/kg; regular rice was VND13,000 - 14,000/kg; Thai fragrant rice, Nang Hoa, and Taiwanese rice were VND20,000 - 22,000/kg; Jasmine and Soc rice were usually VND16,000 - 18,000/kg; Thai Soc rice and Japanese rice were VND20,000 - 22,000/kg.

By-products maintain stable levels

By-product prices are stable, OM 5451 fragrant rice bran is from 7,500 - 7,650 VND/kg, dry bran is 6,750 - 6,850 VND/kg, rice husk is 1,000 - 1,150 VND/kg.

The trading market is deserted.

Rice supply in An Giang, Dong Thap, Soc Trang , Hau Giang, and Ca Mau has decreased, and transactions have been slow. Traders are asking to buy but are offering low prices, while farmers are keeping prices high, causing the market to stagnate.

Stable export rice prices

Vietnam's rice export prices remain stable: 5% broken rice at $382/ton, 25% broken rice at $357/ton, 100% broken rice at $319/ton. Thailand faces a 19% tax from the US, but still competes with Vietnam (20% tax). Concerns about oversupply of white rice and Japan's possible preference for US rice affect the export market.
