Durian price news today May 24, 2025
Dak Lak province is facing major challenges in the 2025 durian crop, as the market becomes increasingly demanding and concerns about chemical and heavy metal residues increase. To ensure durian meets export standards, the locality is urgently implementing synchronous solutions, aiming for a successful crop.
From January 10, 2025, the General Administration of Customs of China requires all durian batches imported from Vietnam and Thailand to be accompanied by a certificate of Cadmium and Yellow O residue inspection. This regulation makes farmers and export businesses in Dak Lak worried, because meeting the new standards is not simple.
Since the beginning of 2025, many durian exporting enterprises have been in a passive position, having to tighten their purchasing and preservation processes. They expect strong support from authorities and testing units to clarify the cause of Cadmium and yellow O residues, thereby finding effective solutions.
To address these difficulties, the Dak Lak Durian Association has sent a document to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , proposing specific solutions. The document emphasizes that the durian export protocol to China will expire in July 2025, and many problems have arisen over the past three years. The Association recommends that the Ministry publicize quality testing guidelines at local laboratories, renew the Protocol, and develop regulations on growing area codes, packaging facilities, and durian export standards.
With an area of 38,800 hectares of durian, of which 22,600 hectares are being harvested, Dak Lak expects the output in 2025 to reach 380,000 - 400,000 tons. In order for each durian to clear customs smoothly, the government, functional agencies, scientists , businesses and cooperatives are working together to find sustainable solutions to bring the "king of fruits" to the international market.
