After a long period of preparation, in July 2025, writer Doan Huu Nam launched his publication: " Lao Cai Written Literature - Origins and Development". With 219 pages, the work is a valuable research project, comprehensively reflecting the process of formation and development of written literature in the province through various historical periods.
To get the book to readers, the majority of the publishing costs, from printing to promotion, were borne by the author Doan Huu Nam himself. However, not every writer has the resources to self-publish and distribute books like him. Therefore, according to Doan Huu Nam, mobilizing social resources for arts and culture is essential to support and empower creators. Although necessary, he also believes that this activity needs guidance and supervision from management agencies to ensure that works adhere to the correct guidelines, policies, and aesthetic values.
In fact, writer Doan Huu Nam has written many novels of significant content and artistic value, which have been contracted by publishing houses that are responsible for investment, distribution, and royalty payments, such as: "Human Roots," "Bandits," "Forest Love,"... and several television scripts. The recognition from readers and professionals, along with practical support from publishers and media outlets, has become an important source of encouragement, giving him the conditions and inspiration to continue writing.
Every year, the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts allocates funds to support its members in various forms, such as organizing creative workshops, assisting with printing and publishing works, and providing direct support for research and creative projects. However, the current support level ranges from only 2 to 6 million VND depending on the scale of the work – a modest amount compared to the investment costs for a thorough and elaborate creative work. Therefore, mobilizing additional social resources has become urgent, giving artists more motivation to pursue their passion for creativity.

In fact, in recent years, literary and artistic activities have received increasing attention and participation from businesses and local authorities. Since the beginning of the year, two literary and artistic workshops have been held in the province: the Bac Ha workshop sponsored by Babeeni Group and the Vo Lao commune workshop organized by the local government. These workshops lasted for several days and attracted a large number of artists and writers from various fields.

Having just returned from the "Autumn Colors" exhibition – showcasing works from the Bac Ha Literature and Art Workshop organized by the Thanh Dong Babeeni Art Center in Hai Phong – photographer Duong Toan happily shared: “I had 23 works selected for display, among which my work "The Tam Hoa Plum Season in Bac Ha" proudly won the B prize. When the work was introduced to the public in Hai Phong, I was very happy and moved. This is not only a source of personal pride, but also an opportunity to promote the beauty of my homeland through the lens of photography.”
According to photographer Duong Toan, for the sustainable development of photography in particular, and literature and art in general, the support of organizations, businesses, and local authorities is essential. He hopes there will be more photography workshops, exhibitions, and large-scale art photography competitions.
In the development of literature and art in Lao Cai, the support of the community, businesses, and local authorities not only provides material resources but also immense spiritual encouragement for creators. When works nurtured from real-life experiences receive the appreciation and support of society, that is when literature and art truly spread, contributing to enriching the spiritual lives of the people. Mobilizing social resources is not only a short-term solution but also a long-term direction for the sustainable development of literature and art in Lao Cai, preserving its identity and fostering creativity within the community.
