Update domestic pepper prices on the morning of August 14, 2025
Domestic pepper prices have remained stable and high due to limited supply, while demand from major markets such as China, the US and Europe is recovering. Some farmers are actively holding onto their stocks in anticipation of higher prices, further reducing the amount of pepper entering the market and creating further pressure on prices in the short term.

Domestically, concerns about price fluctuations have caused both buyers and speculators to reduce transactions. Selling pressure has also decreased as supplies in production areas have almost dried up, helping pepper prices remain stable.

Update world pepper prices on the morning of August 14, 2025
On August 6, US President Donald Trump announced an additional 25% tax on imports from India, raising the total tax rate to 50%, the highest level the US has ever imposed on this trading partner. The move puts the Indian pepper industry at risk of losing market share in the US, as high logistics costs combined with import taxes will make it less competitive compared to supplies from Vietnam, Sri Lanka or Indonesia.
Mr. Emmanuel Nambusseril, Chairman of the All India Spice Export Forum, said the new tax rate will almost “stop” India’s black and white pepper exports to the US. Many US customers have requested renegotiations or stopped imports, forcing Indian exporters to find alternative markets. This could shift the global pepper trade flow, opening up opportunities for countries with lower import costs, including Vietnam.
