Hyundai Motor and Kia's market capitalization is about to surpass 100,000 billion won

As of April 14, the total market capitalization of Hyundai Motor and Kia stood at 94.38 trillion won, with Hyundai Motor worth 50.23 trillion won and Kia worth 44.14 trillion won.

According to economic experts' forecasts, the total market capitalization of two Korean automakers, Hyundai Motor and Kia, will exceed 100,000 billion won (about 72.2 billion USD) this year.

Hyundai Motor shares have risen about 16.9% and Kia shares have risen 9.8% since the start of 2024. The combined market capitalization of South Korea's two largest automakers briefly topped 100 trillion won in March, but has since fallen.

As of April 14, the total market capitalization of the two companies stood at 94.38 trillion won, with Hyundai Motor worth 50.23 trillion won and Kia worth 44.14 trillion won.

Industry observers expect the market capitalization of the two companies to rise back above 100 trillion won thanks to improved sales performance, focusing on high-end models.

Although the total number of vehicles sold in the first quarter of 2024 of both Hyundai and Kia was lower than the same period last year, the two companies achieved greater added value as the number of vehicles sold had higher prices.

Hyundai Motor is expected to post 39.66 trillion won in revenue in the first quarter of 2024, up 5 percent from a year earlier, and Kia is expected to post 24.73 trillion won in revenue, up 4.4 percent from a year earlier, according to a compilation of earnings forecasts from various brokerages by data analytics firm Yonhap Infomax.
