World gold price today

The world gold price today continued to "plummet", with the spot gold price listed on the Kitco exchange at 3,323.21 USD/ounce (equivalent to about 105.4 million VND/tael converted according to Vietcombank exchange rate, excluding taxes and fees) - down 1.67% in the past 24 hours, equivalent to a decrease of 56.33 USD/ounce.

Thus, the domestic gold price is about 14.1 million VND/tael higher than the world gold price.

The main reason for the plunge in global gold prices is the stabilization of the geopolitical situation after the ceasefire between Iran and Israel took effect. As tensions eased, the demand for gold - considered a safe haven asset - decreased significantly. At the same time, strong global stock market growth and sharp decline in oil prices also put pressure on the precious metal market.

Meanwhile, investors are focusing on the speech of the Chairman of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) before Congress. Opinions on interest rate policy are dividing the market, with expectations that the Fed will maintain a cautious stance instead of easing aggressively. This could continue to negatively impact gold prices in the short term.

In the current climate, investors should consider gold as a diversifier rather than a hedge against geopolitical risk events, according to analysts. While gold is not exactly attractive as a safe haven, market analysts at UBS emphasize that gold’s strength lies not in its role as a hedge against geopolitical events, but in its broader function in a diversified portfolio.

“Investors may benefit from looking at gold as a portfolio diversification, rather than as a separate trade that depends on price levels,” said Julian Wee, an investor at UBS.

Although gold prices are on a downward trend, analysts at UBS Bank still maintain an optimistic view on this precious metal, keeping a price target of 3,800 USD/ounce (121 million VND/tael) in the near future.
