On the afternoon of April 26 (Vietnam time), the world gold price was at 3,318 USD/ounce.

After a significant rally on Tuesday evening, global gold markets cooled significantly heading into the weekend, as market volatility subsided and renewed interest emerged in the US dollar and bond yields.

However, while gold is seeing some profit-taking and some analysts are describing this as much-needed consolidation, many do not expect this week's high to be a year-to-date high.

Jesse Colombo, an independent precious metals analyst and founder of the BubbleBubble Report, described the move in gold as a healthy pullback. He added that he could see gold consolidating through the summer and was looking for prices to hold support around $3,000 an ounce.

“I believe gold is still in the early stages of this bull market. Pullbacks are normal, they happen regularly even in the strongest bull markets. With that in mind, I still wouldn’t sell any of my gold bars, but I would take a more defensive approach in the short term,” he said.

Analysts note that renewed selling pressure on gold comes as concerns about the global economy begin to ease. While there are still concerns surrounding financial markets, some economists believe that economic uncertainty has peaked.

Kitco News' weekly gold survey shows that only a handful of industry experts and retail traders remain bullish on gold following a multi-session sell-off in the yellow metal.
