This is the first artificial intelligence competition and also a key national AI program on television with a prize of 1 billion VND, a scholarship of 1 million USD and the opportunity to become a "USD millionaire under 30" from Techcombank and the ecosystem of Masterise Group, One Mount Group.
The contest is sponsored by the Ministry of Public Security , co-organized by VTV National Television, National Data Association, National Data Center & Techcombank. The jury of the opening round will be Professor, Doctor of Science Ho Tu Bao (Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics); Professor Chu Duc Trinh (Rector of University of Technology - Vietnam National University, Hanoi); Associate Professor, Doctor Dinh Ngoc Thanh, Vice President of the Global Network of Young Vietnamese Intellectuals, Director of Technology GFI Group (Australia); young female Professor Nguyen Phi Le (Institute for Research and Application of Artificial Intelligence - Hanoi University of Science and Technology), and guest judge Miss Ngoc Han.
Leading the competition episodes are the MC duo Khanh Vy and Ngoc Thinh - familiar faces to television audiences across the country in many intellectual game shows. The talented and charming “7-language hot girl” and the male MC VTV6 will accompany the competition episodes with a youthful and flexible hosting style.
“Practical AI” attracts television audiences as the goal of innovation and AI solutions with high applicability are expected to be put into practice soon. Moreover, the audience will also directly participate in technological challenges right in the program such as: composing music, comics using AI... helping audiences of many ages and regions to better understand artificial intelligence, in line with the goal of popularizing AI, bringing technology into life and helping people form digital capacity - in line with the goal of Resolution 57-NQ/TW on national digital transformation.
Sharing about what motivated him to join the “real AI” arena, a player from the MeddiesAI team, also an international student, said: “The AI application movement is happening very vigorously in work as well as in all aspects of daily life. Even in France, just by getting on the train or going to work, I see the AI mark everywhere. Therefore, I really hope that the “real AI” spirit will spread more strongly in Vietnam. Even though I am studying far away, I still always look towards Vietnam. When I learned about this competition, I was really surprised by the scale of the organization and the national stature of the competition.”
The special thing about “Practical AI” is that despite being a technology playground, the program still opens up opportunities for amateur contestants, whose majors have little to do with artificial intelligence. It is their passion, different perspectives and the urge to commit that have helped them boldly enter a new field, step out of their comfort zone to assert themselves and prove that this playground is for everyone.
From nearly 400 preliminary round applications, the jury selected 100 excellent teams to enter the final round. In this round, 100 teams were divided into 10 groups with 10 topics. Each team was given 50 USD to use AI tools from the API provided by the Organizing Committee and had to create a product that met the topic given by the jury within a time limit of 120 minutes.
In order for the online scoring system and competition to operate smoothly, synchronous control is a big challenge not only for the teams but also for the Organizing Committee and the members of the Jury. Therefore, the program has built a system to store the entire test history of each team. Thanks to that, the Jury can review the competition process, analyze and evaluate in the most impartial way. More specifically, all technology systems and exam formats are designed by Vietnamese engineers. This further affirms the technological autonomy of Vietnamese people as well as promotes the spirit of "Make in Vietnam" in the technology fields in Vietnam.
Ms. Thai Minh Diem Tu, Marketing Director of Techcombank, representative of the co-organizer and exclusive sponsor, shared in the program introduction on November 22: “I am truly impressed by the practical spirit and the products that the teams have deployed despite the time limit of 120 minutes as prescribed by the Organizing Committee. Through 'Practical AI', we want to prove that AI is not just for technology experts. This is also a national key program, sponsored by the Ministry of Public Security, with the goal of creating practical solutions for Vietnamese people. And I believe that every audience watching the program will have the same feeling about the closeness of AI in daily life and work.”
In the digital age, artificial intelligence is no longer a fantasy but has become a core element in the way people live, learn, work and operate society. AI is comprehensively changing economic and social sectors and plays a strategic role in enhancing national competitiveness. Vietnam is facing a golden opportunity to develop high-quality human resources in AI, creating new opportunities for AI talents to develop and contribute in the new era of national development.
The program not only received great attention from the public and domestic press, but also from many international newspapers and journalists, including regional technology publications, to follow Vietnam's strategic AI development.
Watch the program "Practical AI" broadcast at 8:00 p.m. every Wednesday and Saturday on VTV2 and rebroadcast on VTV3 at 9:00 a.m. every Monday and Saturday; VTV4 at 6:15 p.m. every Friday and Sunday.
