When does the biggest marathon in Vietnam take place?

The 2024 Hanoi Heritage Marathon recorded a 150% increase in the number of athletes compared to the previous season. This is a marathon with a record number of participants in Vietnam.

The running routes of Standard Chartered Marathon Heritage Hanoi are designed to comply with the standards of the world's leading running races. All running routes of 4 distances (5km-10km-21km-42km) are standardized and certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

More than 18,000 athletes from 55 countries are ready to participate in the Hanoi Heritage Marathon taking place on November 3.

Athletes participating in the tournament can use their results to register for the age-based world championship of Abbott World Marathon Majors - an international organization that owns the system of 6 most prestigious marathon races on the planet (Six Majors), including New York Marathon, Chicago Marathon, London Marathon, Boston Marathon, Tokyo Marathon and Berlin Marathon.

Starting from Thien Quang Lake area, athletes will run through the mossy, ancient corners of Hanoi's 36 streets, through the roads along West Lake, considered one of the most beautiful check-in spots in the capital, to the roads representing a dynamic, developing Hanoi every day in the districts of Hai Ba Trung, Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Dong Da, and Tay Ho Hanoi.

In particular, the FM route will visit 5 famous lakes of the capital: Hoan Kiem Lake, West Lake, Truc Bach Lake, Ngoc Khanh Lake and Thien Quang Lake, as well as take athletes through historical sites such as Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ba Dinh Square...

Mr. Nguyen Tri, General Director of DHA Vietnam, the race owner and member of the Organizing Committee, said: “Creating a playground for more than 18,000 domestic and foreign athletes to participate is a huge challenge. The Organizing Committee has discussed with the authorities, researched for many months, with many trial runs to come up with an optimal running plan, connecting many heritages while still ensuring safety and smooth traffic in the city”.

Ms. Trinh Nhu Quynh, Director of External Affairs, Marketing and Branding of Standard Chartered Vietnam shared: "This is a sporting event to honor the cultural diversity and heritage of Hanoi, the 10th race in the world-famous Standard Chartered Marathon system. We wish to accompany Vietnam for a long time and build this marathon into a community-based sporting event, connecting all social classes to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle."

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Hanoi Heritage Marathon season will take place at 8:00 p.m. on November 1 at Thong Nhat Park.
