Disbursement of 500 million VND to plant papaya trees

On May 14, the Provincial Farmers Support Fund Executive Board coordinated with the Farmers' Association of Chau Duc district and Binh Gia commune to disburse 500 million VND to 10 farmer households to implement a project to plant and care for papaya trees.

Each farmer household in the commune is entitled to borrow 50 million VND to invest in irrigation systems, buy seedlings, fertilizers, etc. to grow papaya. The project implementation period is 24 months, with an interest rate of 0.7%/month.

Binh Gia has more than 13 hectares of papaya, of which 5 hectares are cultivated according to VietGAP standards. On average, 1 sao of papaya yields 5 - 7 tons of fruit per year. Ripe papaya is purchased by businesses with stable contracts. Thanks to the application of organic care processes and appropriate planting times, papaya has brought high profits to farmers in the commune.
