Speaking at the reception, Deputy Minister Vo Tuan Nhan respectfully acknowledged the cooperative relationship between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the World Economic Forum that has been realized through the National Plastic Action Partnership Program (NPAP). The program has connected relevant stakeholders to join hands to reduce pollution caused by plastic waste. The Deputy Minister hopes that the World Economic Forum will continue to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in the goal of gathering, connecting and bringing together State, private and social stakeholders in a common approach to address the problem of plastic waste and plastic pollution, and transition to a sustainable circular economic model.
Regarding the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Deputy Minister said that in the coming time, NPAP needs to further promote its role based on the development of pillars of technology, finance, innovation, policy institutions and community approach. “I have assigned tasks to units, specifically the Department of International Cooperation, to closely coordinate with UNDP to innovate approaches and diversify related subjects so that the NPAP Program can achieve greater success,” the Deputy Minister shared.
The Deputy Minister also suggested that WEF continue to accompany and be a bridge between the NPAP Program and global goals, bringing the country's approach towards the common goals of the international community, especially in the issue of plastic waste pollution; at the same time, promoting the role of the governing body of contents related to environmental issues in general.
It is known that recently, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha discussed a new Agreement between the Forum and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. Deputy Minister Vo Tuan Nhan hopes that this new Cooperation Agreement will be the basis and premise for the Forum and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to continue implementing potential cooperation activities.
The Deputy Minister said that in 2022, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is pleased to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Ministry's establishment. Recognizing the contributions of agencies and organizations over the past time, Minister Tran Hong Ha signed the Decision on awarding the Medal for the cause of Natural Resources and Environment to Mr. Lee Ok Joo, as a friend and companion of the Ministry throughout its development journey.
On this occasion, on behalf of Minister Tran Hong Ha, currently holding the position of Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Minister Vo Tuan Nhan awarded the Medal for the cause of Natural Resources and Environment to Mr. Lee Ok Joo.
Expressing his emotion upon receiving the Medal, Mr. Lee Ok Joo shared that this is an honor not only for him personally but also for the World Economic Forum. He will strive to further promote the relationship between Vietnam and the Forum in environmental protection, energy transition and climate change response./.
