As the Lunar New Year of the Dragon 2024 approaches, many schools in Ho Chi Minh City are organizing charitable activities to educate students about the spirit of mutual support, valuing hard work, and sharing with those in need.
At the preschool level, Phu My Preschool (District 7) recently organized a painting and art sale event to raise funds for disadvantaged people in the area. This activity has been maintained for the past seven years. The funds raised are used to support elderly people living alone, students at special needs schools, and provide Tet (Lunar New Year) gifts to the homeless. Through this fundraising art sale, the relationship between the school and families is strengthened, contributing to the promotion of social work in the area.
Earlier, in mid-December 2023, To Vinh Dien Primary School (Binh Thanh District) organized a fundraising campaign to help a student suffering from a terminal illness. The activity quickly attracted the participation of all staff, teachers, and students, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and sharing among the school's members.
At the secondary school level, last week, Vo Thi Sau High School (Binh Thanh District) concluded its "Saving Piggy Banks - Helping Friends Go to School" program. After nearly two months of launching the program, the piggy banks contributed to bringing warm Tet celebrations and providing scholarships to help students in difficult circumstances. Similarly, more than 400 students and teachers from Nguyen Huu Cau High School (Hoc Mon District) recently made a field trip to visit and give Tet gifts to students at Hoa Hoi Primary School ( Tay Ninh Province). Through this trip, students were educated about community spirit, learning to care for and share with those in need.
Despite being organized in various forms and scales, the charitable activities organized by schools have brought the joyful atmosphere of spring to those less fortunate, thereby spreading the humanistic meaning and the beautiful tradition of "helping those in need" of the nation.
