Each artifact is a piece of culture, a living testament to history. If not preserved, they will disappear, taking with them the memories of a land. That has been the thought of Mr. Huynh Dang Hien (Dak Bla ward, Quang Ngai province) for over 15 years, a man who has quietly devoted himself to the passion of collecting cultural artifacts.
From personal passion, he has become a person who contributes to "keeping the soul" of the Northern Central Highlands.
Mr. Huynh Dang Hien began his journey by wandering around villages, visiting every household, every piece of land, every forest, every archaeological site to search for and collect remaining artifacts. After more than 15 years of hard work, his collection has now grown to more than 3,000 artifacts, an astonishing number for an amateur, entirely driven by personal passion. The special thing about Mr. Hien's collection is not only the quantity but also the richness in types, ages and archaeological values. From artifacts from the Paleolithic era to the Late Neolithic period, the early Metal Age, and then to modern and contemporary artifacts, all are present in his garden. Mr. Hien shared: "I mainly collect artifacts from Kon Tum (old). Therefore, this collection is like a continuous flow of the culture of this land through each historical period".
