Ia Chim Water Wind

Scattered showers have brought a gentle coolness to the land. The road to Weh village (Ia Chim commune, Kon Tum city) is lined with lush green rubber trees, coffee plantations, and fruit orchards on both sides. Passing through the vibrant foliage, the destination, Ia Chim boat landing, is filled with the gentle breeze – what a peaceful sight!

On a weekday, the pier is quiet. Standing on the edge of the wide strip of land, gazing at the entire landscape, the clouds and water within sight, one feels an extraordinary sense of peace and tranquility. Spread your arms wide to embrace the boundless, loving embrace!

Unable to hide their admiration for the beautiful nature, everyone was even more captivated by the story of their high school classmate. That day, more than 30 years ago, a sudden family tragedy forced him to reluctantly leave his job and return to the countryside that had raised him. Surprisingly, the place he found himself in was the remote and isolated Ia Chim region.

How could he forget that small, narrow ferry landing that had become so familiar with his daily commute? Initially, he followed the strong, sun-tanned men diligently working on the old, rickety boats bobbing on the rippling lake. Some days they would go to distant fields to clear, plant, and cultivate; other days they would be busy casting nets and catching fish and shrimp.

He remembered the kind neighbor who often set aside a portion for his nephew, sometimes a perch, sometimes a bunch of shrimp. It was also at that ferry landing that he first met the dark eyes of a girl whose face was almost completely veiled, and later their marriage blossomed. The memories of that ferry landing remained vivid because, later on, he and his close friends pooled their resources to buy their first iron boat, diligently working day and night to cast their nets.

Because it wasn't a crowded day, the breeze from the clear blue water of the lake felt even more invigorating. My friend said he felt elated welcoming old friends back to this beloved place for the first time. Ia Chim has changed a lot since the arrival of rubber trees, coffee plants, and fruit trees. Ia Chim has become even more vibrant since the appearance of the boat dock.

No matter where they go, the Gia Rai people born here are always proud of the place where they grew up. Nowhere else is quite like this land, with its fertile soil, harmonious rivers, streams, and mountains. And the Ya Ly hydroelectric reservoir, formed by chance, has given this remote area a pristine beauty and rich potential for economic development. The challenges of poverty reduction and building a prosperous and progressive rural community are being successfully addressed day by day.

No matter where you go, the tourist boat dock, owned by one of the first cooperatives in Ia Chim, remains a unique destination, strong enough to create its own "brand." Even as the lake's water level recedes day by day, the sturdy, cheerful boats still eagerly set sail.

You said that perhaps never before had the wind and water of the lake been so peaceful! Never before had the land and people of Ia Chim been so close to the land and people of Ya Ly and Ya Xier in Sa Thầy district!

And more and more friends and tourists from near and far are coming to Ia Chim.

Like old school friends now over 60, they are still amazed and impressed by how free-spirited and welcoming the winds and waters of Ia Chim are! Chatting animatedly on the boat drifting on the water, they happily joined in the conversation about unlocking the tourism potential of this place.

The Plei Weh boat landing area is gradually taking shape, promising a future where a community-based tourism village will blend seamlessly with the pristine natural landscape, inviting visitors to explore.

The atmosphere in Ia Chim is intoxicating, with the gentle breeze and flowing water. The excitement is further heightened by the sight of a bright light gradually appearing to the west, like a welcoming wave of joy. The shape of the bridge, part of the project to build a bridge and roads at both ends from the Ia Chim tourist boat dock, will soon take form. This large-scale project, connecting the remote area of Kon Tum city on Provincial Road 671 with Provincial Road 675A in Ya Ly commune (Sa Thầy district), opens up opportunities for exchange and offers promising prospects for socio-economic development in a region with significant potential that is gradually being unleashed.

The wind and water of Ia Chim Lake stir with excitement. My heart is filled with joy as the conversation intoxicates and becomes more and more captivating. It's not just the tourist boat dock today; the vast lake itself offers numerous other promising stopping points. With proper planning and investment, the potential to become a unique and attractive ecotourism destination is very real.
