According to Vietnam Animation Studio, the two films “ Dien Bien Promise” and “Dien Bien Packed Vehicle” are in the process of production and completion to be shown on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).
The two animated films, titled “Dien Bien Promise” and “Dien Bien Cart”, were produced by screenwriter Pham Thanh Ha, editor Nguyen Thu Trang, and director and artist Bui Manh Quang.
The film "Dien Bien Promise" (10 minutes, paper-cut genre) revolves around the meeting between an old man and a boy on the Dien Bien battlefield in the past. Through the veteran's story, the boy learned more about his father's long resistance war against the French and the earth-shattering Dien Bien Phu victory. Moved by the promise of the Dien Bien soldiers, the boy and his friends fulfilled the promise of the younger generation, continuing the tradition of patriotism and national pride.
The film “The Dien Bien Packed Cart” (10 minutes, paper-cut) tells the story of a boy’s journey with a cart in the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum. Taking the cart to visit the old battlefield, the boy witnessed the entire Dien Bien Phu campaign with extraordinary things, the miracles that our army and people created in the Dien Bien Phu victory that shook the world.
Sharing about her inspiration for writing, screenwriter Pham Thanh Ha - author of 2 film scripts said that writing an animated script about modern history is very difficult, however, after watching 5 episodes of the documentary "A1, blood, mud and flowers", she was very moved and even more determined to do it. She emphasized: "When writing the script for Dien Bien Promise, I felt like I was fulfilling a promise. I wish to be like the characters in the story, the soldiers who always keep their promises to their comrades, the young people today keep their promises to preserve and continue the traditions of their fathers and brothers, so that good things will never be forgotten".
