Timely, accurate, confidential
When storm No. 5 and then storm No. 10 consecutively hit the Central region, we regularly stayed at the forward command post of the National Civil Defense Command in Military Region 4 to update the situation and report promptly. During and after the storm, the rain poured down, the wind howled, the civil information system, mobile waves, and the internet were almost paralyzed. However, at the forward command post, the screen connecting online with the Central and localities was still bright, the television, wireline, and wireless signals were still continuous, without interruption for even a minute.

In the midst of the storm, Major Dinh Xuan Hung, Commander of VCD3 vehicle, Company 6, Battalion 2, Brigade 80, and his teammates persistently stayed by the equipment. They quietly checked, connected, and operated the radio system, urgently set up communication stations, and received signals to ensure smooth communication, contributing significantly to the work of directing and operating disaster prevention, search and rescue. Major Dinh Xuan Hung shared, “As soon as there was an order to establish information from the forward command post with ministries, branches, and localities, we simultaneously deployed connection channels from television, wireline to radio. Despite the urgent time and harsh weather, the unit still completed the task quickly, ensuring absolute safety.” He added: "The mobile information team can react so quickly and accurately thanks to careful preparation in advance. We are regularly instructed by the Party Committee and Brigade commander to closely conduct realistic training, and the simulated situations are all based on the terrain and weather characteristics of the area. Therefore, when a situation arises, the entire mobile team deploys very quickly, mastering each operation."
The 80th Information Brigade is a campaign-level unit, tasked with ensuring information security for the 4th Military Region Command to command and direct agencies and units from Thanh Hoa to Hue. The area is large, the terrain is complex, the climate is harsh, while the information system that the Brigade manages consists of many components, diverse in technology, from radio, wire, fiber optic cable to military computer networks. From the above situation, the Party Committee and command of the 80th Information Brigade always clearly identify the urgent requirement of constantly improving the quality of training, firmly mastering equipment; organizing technical assurance work well; building a force with strong political will, professional proficiency, ready to maneuver in all situations, ensuring "timely, accurate, confidential, safe" information in all conditions and on all tasks. Colonel Tran Hoai Nam, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of the 80th Information Brigade, affirmed: “In the past term, in order to carry out the breakthrough of “Improving training quality, ensuring TTLL”, the Party Committee and the Brigade commanders linked the implementation of key political tasks with the concretization of studying and following Uncle Ho through many practical models and movements such as: “5 Good Stations”, “Model Shifts”... Thereby, the sense of responsibility, self-awareness, discipline and professional pride of each cadre, party member and soldier were strongly promoted, so that whether in storms, at the border or in the middle of the epidemic, the information “blood vessels” of the Military Region are always smooth and solid”. Thanks to that, the annual training results always met and exceeded the set targets, the rate of good and excellent reached 89%, an increase compared to the previous term. The drills at all levels were organized close to reality, ensuring absolute safety. Notably, in the Army's elite mobile information competition, the 80th Information Brigade won second prize, affirming the level, mettle and spirit of the Information Corps in the new era.

In recent years, with the attention of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense in investing in modern equipment, the 80th Information Brigade has been given "wings" of technology. Many advanced information equipment and devices have been put into use for the first time, opening a new era in the unit's information security work. The Party Committee and the Brigade's command concretize the motto "Good at traditional information, elite in mobile information, mastering high-tech information" by linking training closely with the task of ensuring information security, closely with the organization and actual equipment and materials of the unit. Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Battalion Commander of Battalion 2, 80th Information Brigade, said: “When equipped with new equipment, the unit selects and sends cadres and employees with good professional qualifications to attend training at the TTLL Corps, to acquire the content, then return to organize training for the entire unit. Thanks to that, 100% of the cadres and soldiers have a firm grasp and mastery of the equipment and weapons assigned to them; contributing to improving the level and combat readiness, ensuring the unit's TTLL meets mission requirements.”
Along with that, the Party Committee and the Command of the 80th Information Brigade encouraged and motivated cadres and party members to actively promote the application of information technology and initiatives, technical improvements in management, command, operation, ensuring TTLL and training. From 2020 to 2025, the Brigade had 135 initiatives, of which 2 initiatives were recognized by the TTLL Corps with the Youth Innovation Award at the Corps level, 11 initiatives won the Military Region level award. The Brigade synchronously implemented many administrative reform measures, promoted internal resources to invest in infrastructure and equipment in digital transformation, and was evaluated by the Military Region as one of the leading units in digital transformation. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Sy Thao, Squad Leader of the Technical Support Squad, Battalion 1, 80th Information Brigade, was affectionately called the "innovation tree" of the unit by his comrades. Every year, he has 1 to 2 initiatives that are highly appreciated for their applicability in training and ensuring TTLL. Many of his products have won awards at the Corps level, such as: "Multi-line fiber optic cable breakage warning circuit", "Remote warning circuit for HK04 switchboard station", "Multi-function power charger for radio equipment"... His persistent efforts have been recognized by the Party Committee and unit commanders; for many consecutive years, he has been voted the title of Emulation Fighter, Party member who has excellently completed his tasks.
Sharing about his motivation for research, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Sy Thao confided: “As the person directly responsible for technical assurance work at the unit, I am always aware of having to be proactive, exemplary, proactive in researching and being creative to improve the quality of work. Besides, the Party Committee and commanders at all levels always care, encourage and create favorable conditions in terms of time and policies so that we can feel secure, passionate about research and contribute to the unit.”
Faced with increasingly high task requirements, especially in times of natural disasters and special situations, the Party Committee and Brigade commanders focus on training, practicing and mastering plans, and handling situations well; at the same time, strongly applying science, technology, and digital transformation, contributing to improving the capacity to manage, exploit, and use information technology equipment. In particular, the work of building a team of information officers and employees with strong political will, good expertise and professionalism according to the goal of "Good at traditional information, elite in mobile information, mastering high-tech information" is given top priority, contributing significantly to the successful completion of all assigned tasks, maintaining the "bloodline" of information in all conditions and circumstances.
During these days, the Military Region 4's Armed Forces are actively competing to achieve achievements to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Military Region's Armed Forces' Traditional Day (October 15, 1945 / October 15, 2025). Officers and soldiers of the 80th Information Brigade are proud to continue the heroic tradition, constantly training, innovating, creating, mastering science and technology, ensuring smooth and solid information communication in all situations; contributing to building a comprehensively strong Military Region's Armed Forces that is "exemplary and typical", meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation.
