On October 14, technology corporation Google announced that it will invest 15 billion USD over the next 5 years to establish data infrastructure to serve a large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) center in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The move marks one of Google's biggest investments ever in the South Asian country.

The 1 gigawatt data center project by Alphabet Inc will be implemented in the port city of Visakhapatnam, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

Google's new data center in Visakhapatnam is said to be the largest in Asia in terms of capacity and scale of investment.

The project is part of Google's multi-billion dollar expansion strategy in Asia, including countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Speaking at an event held in New Delhi, Mr. Thomas Kurian - CEO of Google Cloud affirmed that the above project is the largest AI center that this corporation has invested in outside the US.

As tech giants accelerate investments in data center infrastructure to meet the explosive demand for AI services, Google has pledged to invest about $85 billion by 2025 to expand its data center capacity globally.

In an era where data is like oil, projects of impressive scale will become a key strategic advantage, according to Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh.

In the Indian market, which has nearly 1 billion internet users, giants like Microsoft and Amazon have poured billions of dollars into developing data center infrastructure.

AI technology requires enormous computing power, driving the need to build specialized data centers that can link thousands of chips into super-fast processing clusters./.
