The incident occurred on the afternoon of November 21 at Al Maktoum International Airport, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Tejas fighter jet lost control and crashed straight into the ground during a performance, creating a giant fireball and a column of black smoke rising high in the air.
Immediately after the incident, the Indian Air Force confirmed: "The pilot died in the accident. An investigation committee is being formed to determine the cause of the incident."

Video : The moment the fighter crashed.
Videos circulating on social media captured the moment the fighter jet dived to the ground. Seconds before the crash, the plane was seen soaring almost vertically before losing control.
This is the second accident involving the Tejas light fighter in less than two years. Previously, in March 2024, another Tejas also crashed in Jaisalmer city, Rajasthan state during a training flight. Fortunately, the pilot in that incident was able to eject safely.
Tejas is a multi-role fighter aircraft developed and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The aircraft is designed to undertake various combat missions such as air defense, ground attack support and close air combat.
