The project was implemented by a group of students from the K42 Print Journalism class, a learning activity closely linked to journalism and communication practice. From the idea generation, identity design to content production and event organization, all were proactively undertaken by the students themselves.
Under the professional and content sponsorship of the UNESCO Traditional Arts Center and the guidance of artist Ta Hanh - Director of the Center, Chairman of the Hanoi Xam Singing Art Club, Nghe Tan Ky is a testament to how the Gen Z generation approaches, preserves and renews national cultural heritage in a methodical and serious manner.

The name “Nghe Tan Ky” has many layers of meaning. “Nghe” is an abbreviation for art, including forms such as folk music , traditional crafts, traditional costumes and folk games. “Tan Ky” means new, unique, expressing the spirit of innovation and creativity of young people when approaching traditional values. This combination shows the desire to retell the story of Vietnamese culture with a new look – lively, close and reflecting the breath of the times.
Immediately after its launch, the project attracted widespread attention on social networks thanks to its modern approach and humanistic content. The main event of Nghe Tan Ky will be held on November 23 at Bich Cau Dao Quan (14 Cat Linh Street, Dong Da District, Hanoi), aiming to celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day.
Here, the audience will enjoy performances of ca tru, cheo, xam and chau van, watch traditional costumes, experience wearing traditional costumes, make to he and participate in many familiar folk games. In addition, the program also has an exchange with artists and artisans in the art performance section.

Sharing about the project, Nguyen Cam Tu, Head of the Organizing Committee, said: “ We want to awaken the love for Vietnamese culture in the way young people feel through music, images and experiences. When directly participating in cultural activities, each person will realize that heritage is not distant, but a natural part of today's life.”

On behalf of the UNESCO Hanoi Center for Traditional Arts, artisan Ta Hanh, Director of the Center, expressed his joy when seeing the faces of young students passionate about traditional arts: “What impressed me most is the seriousness, openness in research and the effort and creativity in the way you convey the heritage. I see in you freshness, passion, positive energy and a very natural love for Vietnamese culture. I believe that the heritage will continue in very beautiful ways. Gen Z is completely capable of breathing new life into traditional arts while still preserving the roots, spirit and values of the heritage.”

By combining traditional music and a contemporary approach, Nghe Tan Ky not only brings a vibrant cultural experience space but also affirms the role of Gen Z in the journey of preserving and spreading Vietnamese cultural values.
