Google announces groundbreaking quantum computing algorithm

On October 22, in the scientific journal Nature, Google announced a new computer algorithm that opens up practical applications for quantum computing, capable of generating unique data for artificial intelligence (AI).

According to Google, the new algorithm, called Quantum Echoes, running on the company's quantum chips, is said to be 13,000 times faster than the most sophisticated computing algorithms currently available on supercomputers.

In the future, this algorithm could help measure molecular structures, aid in drug discovery , and aid in materials science research by identifying new types of materials.

Alphabet - Google's parent company - is one of many large technology corporations, including Amazon and Microsoft, that are investing heavily in the field of quantum computing, which is expected to speed up calculations and solve problems beyond the reach of today's computers.

Last year, Google unveiled its Willow quantum chip, which it said could overcome the central hurdle of “qubits” – the basic units in quantum computing.

According to a Google executive, the development of this new algorithm is as important as the creation of the Willow chip. The algorithm can also be verified with other quantum computers or through experimental experiments. The fact that the data can be verified means the possibility of practical application.

In the field of AI, Google engineers expect to be able to use this algorithm to create new datasets, serving fields such as life sciences, where there is not enough quality data to train AI models./.
