“ We are officially launching our new Cybersecurity Center in Japan, which aims to connect leading cybersecurity experts, researchers and partners ,” Google said in a statement.
In this strategy, the US tech giant wants to promote research on countermeasures against cyberattacks, by sharing the latest information with relevant government officials, companies and universities in Japan. The new center will focus on enhancing discussions on cybersecurity policy, leading educational initiatives, developing resources, and supporting cybersecurity research with Japanese organizations, a Google spokesperson said.
“ We hope to create stronger, sustainable collaboration with Japanese partners in the public and private sectors, through meaningful cybersecurity defense knowledge exchanges and connections, ” the spokesperson said.
The new center will also serve as a training ground for cyber defense experts in the Asia- Pacific region. In addition, Google will invite engineers from India, Australia, South Korea, Japan and Southeast Asian countries to research ways to combat cyber attacks.
The move comes amid growing concerns about unauthorized access to government and corporate internet networks by hostile actors around the world. The launch of the defense center also coincides with Japan’s annual “Cybersecurity Awareness Month,” which begins on February 1 and runs through March 18.
