Google launches Pixel 10 smartphone line

New products introduced at an event in Brooklyn include the Pixel 10 series (Pixel 10; Pixel 10 Pro; Pixel Pro XL and Pixel Pro Fold), an improved Pixel smartwatch and headphones.

Google on August 20 launched the Pixel 10 phone line, which integrates many artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to compete with rivals in the emerging AI-enabled smartphone market.

The new products introduced at an event in Brooklyn, New York, include the Pixel 10 series (Pixel 10; Pixel 10 Pro; Pixel Pro XL and Pixel Pro Fold), an improved Pixel smartwatch and headphones. All of these devices are synchronized and have Gemini AI support.

The AI built into the new Pixel phones allows the Gemini AI assistant to “look” through the camera to “see” what the user is actually seeing, answering questions or providing information about places, objects or situations.

While the Pixel Watch 4 smartwatch is the biggest update to the series.

Features include health tracking, which can differentiate between activities like walking, cycling, or playing sports . The Pixel Watch also lets users command the Gemini AI assistant while wearing it on their wrist.

Gemini can detect the speaker's mood and adjust its response accordingly, and can even "look" through the phone's camera to make suggestions for the best photo.

The Pixel 10 starts at $799, the Pixel 10 Pro starts at $999, the Pixel Pro XL starts at $1,199, and the Pixel Pro Fold starts at $1,799.

Pixel phones currently represent a small slice of the premium smartphone market dominated by Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi, but Google's hardware is a strength for the tech giant to highlight what's possible with its Android operating system and Gemini AI assistant.

With Apple accused of being behind in the AI race, Google has been touting a comprehensive effort to integrate advanced AI into all of its products as it competes with giants like Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft./.
