News organizations are worried about the impending changes to Google Search. In particular, AI-generated content replacing links has news organizations worried about a drop in traffic and, with it, revenue in an already difficult journalism landscape.

In particular, the disappearance of the News bar from Google search results for some users this week has news organizations around the world even more worried.
Google confirmed that some users are not seeing the News filter/bar during an ongoing test. “We’re testing different ways to display filters in Search, and as a result, some of them are temporarily inaccessible to a small group of users,” a Google spokesperson confirmed via email.

“I use the News bar regularly — several times a day, every day — and I noticed it was gone on Wednesday,” said Sarah Scire, deputy editor at Nieman Lab.
Scire added that she did not see the News bar as an option for searches, even when searching in the menu. "I tried with 'Julian Assange' and a few other keywords. However, none of the options showed the News filter."
According to some users, this disappearance is just a temporary and random test. That means the loss of the Google News bar will only affect some people and will return later, possibly the next day.
