Today, members of the Hungarian Football Federation, coach Marco Rossi and players visited Barnabas Varga, who is being treated in hospital. His wife Laura Skrapits has been taking care of her husband for the past few days.

In the photo posted by the Hungarian Football Federation, Barnabas Varga's face can be seen still disfigured after the strong impact. He has undergone surgery and is in the recovery phase. With this injury, Barnabas Varga will be absent for the rest of the Euro.

Laura Skrapits has been a big supporter of her husband these past few days. She posted a picture of herself holding her husband's hand on Instagram. She captioned it: "Thank you for all your messages of support over the years. Barni has had surgery. He needs some rest. Everything will be fine."

Hungary captain Szoboszlai has called on UEFA to change the medical process at Euro 2024 after the medical team were slow to take their team-mate to hospital. The Liverpool player said: "Varga's situation is terrible. I don't know what the medical process is in UEFA matches and how it works. I don't understand why they walk around in such a situation.

I don't think they reacted quickly enough. You could see it was a serious injury. Everyone was rushing, including me. Everyone understood that the medical team needed to react faster."

Hungary finished third in Group A with three points (-3 goal difference). They will have to wait for the results of Group F to find out if they qualify. Hungary will only qualify if Portugal beat Georgia and Türkiye beat the Czech Republic.
