People's consensus

Walking on the road that he partly contributed to, Mr. Dong Van Chanh in Thai Nguyen village, Kim Thanh commune said that at the end of June, when the village organized a consultation to widen the village road, everyone agreed. His family donated 30 square meters of rice field to build the road. "When the village launched the campaign, everyone wanted to build it and wanted the roads to be more beautiful and spacious. Only then will the appearance of the homeland be as bright as today," Mr. Chanh said.

Thai Nguyen village has 2 roads along the rice fields with a total length of 370m. Before the renovation, one road was only about 2.5m wide, the other about 1.5m. Both roads were built in 2004. Over time, the roads have deteriorated, making it difficult for people to travel.

Mr. Dong Van Lang, Party cell secretary and head of Thai Nguyen village, said that each completed road is a story of village love with many examples of people voluntarily donating land and labor. Both completed roads have sections 5 m wide, some 7 m wide, making travel convenient.

To achieve that success, 169 households in the village donated more than 700 square meters of agricultural land to build roads. The road was completed, making it convenient for people to travel. Currently, the village still has a narrow road of nearly 500 meters long. From now until the end of the year, we will continue to mobilize people to donate land to build roads, promote the movement of building new rural areas, and build more civilized villages.

The road in residential group 5, An Duong ward is 5.5 m wide and 450 m long. Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan in residential group 5 is an exemplary leader, agreeing to hand over 38.4 m2 of residential land to widen the road. According to Mr. Thuan, the movement of donating land to build roads for new rural construction is very exciting. Not only village 5 but other villages also donated land to renovate and widen the road. "Although the land price is high, with consensus and solidarity, we wholeheartedly support it. When there is a wide road, the land price will be even higher," said Mr. Thuan.

From those hearts, hundreds of inter-village and inter-commune roads in Hai Phong have been expanded, connecting residential areas; roads to the fields for buying and selling goods and transporting agricultural products have also been expanded, contributing to promoting the rural economy and improving people's lives.

Officials and party members are always exemplary pioneers in donating land to pave roads and build new rural areas. In the photo: People of Nai Dong village, Kim Thanh commune donate land to build roads.

According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City, over the past 5 years, the city's people have donated tens of thousands of square meters of land, worth hundreds of billions of VND, and many working days to build roads, bridges, and beautify villages. The new rural construction movement has spread throughout all the village roads, alleys, and residential groups of Hai Phong City.

The new roads not only changed the appearance of the village, but also strengthened community solidarity. When people discussed, agreed, and voluntarily donated land and labor, the atmosphere of solidarity and mutual support spread throughout the village.

In many places, exemplary cadres and party members take the lead, creating a strong influence. Mr. Nguyen Dung Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tay commune, said that in the past, many road construction projects had compensated people, but the commune is now organizing to mobilize people to widen the 190D road according to the "0 dong" policy and is supported by the majority of people. Among them, Mr. Nguyen Van Manh's family took the lead in donating more than 23 square meters of residential land to widen the road. Since then, many households have agreed to follow suit.

Mr. Bui Tien Phong, Chairman of An Duong Ward People's Committee, said that after implementing the two-level local government, the space of communes, wards, and special zones is wider and many roads need to be expanded. In the process of building new rural areas, we always focus on and do a good job of propaganda and mobilization. Party committees, Fatherland Front and mass organizations are all actively involved. For projects related to land clearance and recovery, local officials go to each household to explain and dialogue, creating high consensus, helping people clearly see the benefits of road expansion.

Based on consensus, Hai Phong leads the country in building new rural areas. Up to now, all communes of the city have met new rural standards. The rural transport system has been invested in and expanded synchronously, connecting smoothly from the inner fields to the commune centers and special economic zones, contributing to promoting the rapid and sustainable development of the socio-economic situation in suburban areas.
